How much do you pay for a haircut?

What do you pay for your haircut - is it from a small local salon who does a brilliant job for £20 or a top notch salon for £70

I am having qualms about paying out £70 for a cut and blow dry at a city centre salon and part of me thinks there's a highly skilled hairdresser out there who does a good job for much less money. On the other hand I have a belief that you get what you pay for. I've had so many rubbish or mediocre. cuts that I'd rather pay to get a good cut in a top salon.

What's your views?

I pay £120 every six weeks for cut and colour....SW London.
But I have the most senior stylist. Think its @£60 for the cut

I go to a swank salon in the city centre. I pay £100 for cut and colour.

I did go to the salon in my village and they were rubbish. I'm sure there are talented stylists who can do as well or better than the city centre salon but I don't know how to find them.

I do think that going to a salon in an upmarket area makes a difference - my village is pretty working class and so the clientele will have different tastes which probably affects the sort of work the stylists will be well-practiced at.

My last cut was £50 and I was very happy with it. It's too much money but I haven't managed to find a cheaper one that I like even though I try different places with a less experienced stylist about once a year.

£25 for a damp (i.e. just spray it down) cut. I think it would be £30ish for a wash and cut. This is a local salon. I've got a short bob with nothing interesting going on so I don't really want to pay much more for it. For a proper cut and restyle I'd pay £50-£60.

£30 but she's mobile now and used to charge £70 when she owned a salon if she stopped cutting hair I would go back to a salon and pay £50-£70 if needed.

Nothing cos I do it myself (sorry)....if I paid more than £20 it would be an absolute waste since my hair grows so fast. Very annoying.
Don't feel like doing trial and error with cheap hairdressers just in case I fall on a gem- bad experiences!

Like Velour I generally cut mine myself. Once a year I treat myself to a salon cut and colour, but otherwise I am happy to do it myself.

Nothing as I cut my own, I haven stepped foot in a hairdressers since 2012 I think. I used to pay £60 for a haircut, I couldn't do it now.

I pay £35 for a cut and colour by someone who comes to my house. She's a friend of an old colleague who did train as a hairdresser, but now has a different career, but still keeps up the hairdressing on an evening for extra money.

I had a bad couple of hair cuts and she has put it right over 4 months or so.

Blimey, there are actual people that pay over £40 for a cut and blow dry! Craziness! Supercuts £33 plus tip here, and my hair looks fine... I hope!

If I could find a skilled hairdesser who I can trust who is local and cheaper that my stylist who charges £70 for a cut and blowdry I would happily go but until that happens I'll keep forking out for a good cut - my thinking is that if I get a good cut then I probably don't need to go so often, whereas when I've had a cheaper cut it won't fall into place and I keep fiddling with my hair and stressing all the time and then I go somewhere else to get them to put it right. So it's cost effective. :)

26. She was 20 a couple of years ago but has gone up a grade since then. Still very reasonable - the average price would be more like 40 in our city centre salons.

I only go every 12 weeks too.
