Looking for a nice grown up hair clip or hairband to smarten up a half up half down style under a winter hat, something strong enough to deal with thick hair.

Can do online or highstreet

www.stone-bridge.co.uk/

Bit pricey but quality is great and they break items into suitable for fine hair/thick hair/curly hair etc. Got hair slide for my wedding from here.

Perfect but if I'm being sensible a little out of my budget sad

If I can't find anything else will definitely look again.

They really are gorgeous

I think stonebridge is overpriced for what they are. Very pretty but still only acrylic or acetate.

here and here have nice things, for a more realistic price too.

Those are ok. But the grown up-ness the stonebridge, especially the shell style barrettes, is much more what I had in mind

Could you wear this ironically?

Old brooches make amazing hair clips, search your local charity shops / ebay for sparkly paste 1940 / 50 styles.

I do like the idea of using old brooches but how do you keep them in?
