Piercings and Dermal Anchors?

MyChemicalGerard · 10/12/2014 16:53

Posting in here as not sure where else to post it. I am thinking of getting a third eye piercing but I don't know what peoples views of this piercing is or where to get it done.

Also has anyone got any experience of this piercing and dermal anchors?
Which would work better and whats pain/ scarring like for both?

Thanks

Eh, I don't think it looks nice on anyone.
I'm not anti-piercing btw, I have 20 of my own and a few retired.
As with any surface piercing it has a high risk of migrating (moving around) or rejecting. It can happen anytime. I had my nape pierced and it was perfectly happy for three years. Then I had a painful boil appear in the centre of the piercing where it was rejecting and no amount of salt soaking or anything could save it. It left quite a scar that I had tattooed over.
The risk with the third eye piercing is when you take it out you will be left with a scar, and the forehead is a very obvious place to have one, unless you grow a fringe or something.
I still have a small hole under my lip where my labret was pierced even though I haven't worn it for at least five years.
Do you have many facial piercings already? If you're already all pierced up and have run out of space then by all means go ahead, but if you don't have many visible piercings I would say hold off for a few months and really think about it.

Thanks for the reply! I have a couple of nose piercings as i have problems over my mouth so I can't pierce that as much as I would want to. I have considered the migration aspect of it, three years seems good going! I don't like my face anyway so i'm not sure it would bother me too much Grin

I think they look good, once healed.

But getting dermals healed is something of an inexact science. If your body wants to reject it it will, no matter how kind and clean u are with it.

If it doesn't heal and you're left with a scar... think about that before getting it done.

My last piercing was an orbital, and it took nearly a year to heal!!!

I have a third eye dermal piercing done four years ago, healed beautifully, no problems and I bought lots of little titanium set jewels for it, amethyst, blue topaz, green peridot etc.

I have always worn bindis so this was a great way of being able to wear them without loosing them. Many Asian folk ask me about it and comment on how pretty it looks.

Make sure that you do your homework on piercing studios, keep it clean, do not fiddle with it and it should heal well.

I don't know anything about the piercing but just wanted to say that I really like them. I thought you meant one of those horizontal piercings over the top of your nose, which I don't like as much. Third eye one is really pretty though.
