Going from dark to blonde? Pics included

I've finally found a hairdresser who hasn't talked me out of taking the plunge! I've been dark my whole life, sometimes different versions of dark like reddy, plum etc but never light and I really want to try this but I'm so nervous it'll ruin my hair or look ridiculous. I left an eye in my pic to give an idea of colouring. Everyone always says Oh no it wouldn't suit but I think that's because they're so used to seeing me with dark hair!

Any words of wisdom?

I have also been dark all my life, haven't actually gone blond but I have gradually gone to a lighter shade of brown. I am a more mature woman so I am happy now with my shade but if I were you I would go for it if thats what you want. I think it would look nice! Do it and show us all a pic..

I've done it and been very happy with the result!
Go for it- once you've a professional doing it I wouldn't be worried
Good luck!

Do it! It's only hair, you need to get it out of your system! Just if you are keeping some of the dark, they say only goa couple of tones lighter than your colour for classy highlights so either lighten the lot and then some highlights on top of that, or just a tone or two above the dark you have.

I have nothing useful to add on the hair colouring front, but just wanted to say (from what I can see) you're gorgeous!

Yes. Blondette has been a 'thing' for a while now, I haven't seen it fail on anyone. Get it done and please show a pic!

I think you look stunning as you are - you remind me of Courtney Cox. I really like that dark hair pale skin blue eyes look.

Your hair is pretty dark by the looks of it, so it may not come out the colour you envisage. But there's no reason not to try it. Why now start with half a head of highlights?

Thanks everyone, yeah I'm more worried about the in-between look as it definitely won't be what I want first go! I also see myself instantly regretting it and throwing a dark box colour back in but sure it is just hair and I must quench this curiosity! Appointment booked for next Saturday I'll definitely be back to post results [shock

twinkle and hippy Flowers WineFlowersCake so lovely to come back and read such lovely things!!

Looks amazing! Well done for being brave - it's really paid off.

I'm curious to know what your natural colour is...

I just hope I don't get too brave! The pic in my OP is my natural colour, from root to ears was all natural and ears down was died the same colour as above when I covered over red. I don't think I'll ever home dye again, my hair feels in great condition after loads of bleach but doing anything at home used to leave it like straw!
