Last year-I think -I bought DH a lovely cashmere jumper from Tu(sainsburys) and it is really really lovely. He is a bit funny with Itchy jumpers but he loves this one. Anyway, I want to get him another but can't find a decent quality one for the same sort of price as I would of paid in Sainsburys. I did order one from John Lewis, but it wasn't lovely and soft,as it was mixed with merino wool. And it was £50hmm I have tried all the usual suspects on the high st.
Any other ideas please

Have you tried Uniqlo? I really rate their mens' cashmere.

I agree with the Uniqlo suggestion. I bought a lovely pale blue V necked women's cashmere sweater from Tesco last week. £45. Good quality soft cashmere . If the men's range is as good , definitely worth a look.

One thing though, I ended up returning the black as it wasn't nearly as soft as the other colours, so might be worth bearing in mind.

Dye affects things like wool and cashmere differently for different colours. So lighter colours are often softer than darker colours and black in particular can make a difference. So if you think he might like a lighter colour you may get a softer jumper that way

Oh, that's interesting to know. The one from sainsbury is a fawny/golden colour. I did order one from John Lewis -petrol blue-and it feels really scratchy.

Not sure about Men's but TKMaxx has loads of cashmere jumpers for women, lots of brands, good quality and very decent prices.
