A young tall gorgeous blond mum wearing a leather knee-length flared skirt with matching black leather 3/4 length sleeve jacket, leopard print low-cut top, sky-high stilettos and fur-trimmed black leather fingerless gloves.

She stood out.

Wow,she would stand out!

She must have been on her way to somewhere really nice!

I love a leather skirt but not sure if I could wear anything other than knee length pencil.

Was it like a skater skirt, or a line?

Wow!
Although makes me think of the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I worry about myself.

I've got a full leather, knee length skirt. From Zara. I wear it with a variety of tops (bretton, round necked jumpers, buttoned up shirt, a leopard print slash necked top for example) and either ankle boots or stilettos.

It's worn a lot!

It was the fingerless gloves edged with fur that really stood out. I think the skirt alone was nice, the whole ensemble was a bit trop.

No, she dresses similarly every day. More dressed up than I would ever be for a party even!

The skirt was like a skater, ie very full, but nearly knee-length.

Well it's a helpfully wipe clean outfit....

I wonder what her style is for a night out then!!!!

Makes a change from posts about people wearing pjs and onesies on the school run, this mum sounds like the opposite end of the scale.

Or maybe she just thinks "F*ck it. I'll wear what I like because life is too damn short to give a toss what other people think."

Sorry but I think this is a rather bitchy thread.

(Before anyone asks, I am not the woman in question).

It was probably me, op Grin

(That was a joke by the way. But she sounds fabulous.)

Which one of you lovely ladies was it?

I'm sure she looked great.
Maybe she has a brilliant job which means she can dress amazingly every day.

I was looking at a skirt very like that this morning (ASOS) and wondering if I could justify the spend £ . I may have to have another sneaky look now as I was trying to forget about it ...

I sometimes overdress but I have loads of nice clothes in my wardrobe and I don't always have the occasion to wear them but I wear them anyway. Maybe this woman has a great job where she can wear smart and creative outfits, or maybe she's a sahm who just wants to wear dressier clothes, fair play either way

Ujjayi · 28/11/2014 17:49

Angelhairscruff - same here. I run my own business from home but rarely have client meetings. I could wear jeans & tees everyday but that would be dull. The way I see it, I have no employee dress code to adhere to so why impose one on myself?

Chottie · 28/11/2014 17:52

I dress up everyday, I refuse to leave clothes unworn in the wardrobe. Life is just to short to save clothes for best

Angelhairscruff · 28/11/2014 17:52

Don't blame you ujjayi. I think dressing to make you happy is the way forward, not necessarily dressing exactly for the occasion

A colleague once asked me why I wear my contact lenses to work, why didn't I save them for when I go out. My answer was 'I am out'.

She sounds amazing! I never have the energy to look that glamorous on the school run but good for her grin

Report
kippersmum · 28/11/2014 18:00

Good on her! Not my style personally, but I also wear things that might raise an eyebrow on the school run. Life is too short, wear what makes you happy & to hell with the people giving you sidelong looks & judging
