What do you think of parkas?

I need a new winter coat, looking for an every day, reasonably practical, nice coat. I like this www.whitestuff.com/mobile/womens/coats-jackets/blue-parklife-parka/ but DH has decided he hates parkas.

I'm 5'7, size 14 and mid-thirties if that makes a difference.

DH is no style icon and I am perfectly happy to ignore his opinion on this.

That looks like a lovely parka! Quite stylish as parkas are still very much in fashion.

I like parkas generally, but I'm not a fan of the ones with a drawstring at the waist.

I'm the same as Carpaccio - I like parkas but not those with a drawstring.

I love parkas , I bought one for DD (12yo) from Matalan.
She's a 6-8 , I bought her the 10 to give more room. She loves it.
Too warm for me (hot flushes) I'll just admire DD,

I like it! I'm a similar age and shape to you and I'd wear it.

As long as you feel good in it, ignore DH.

I love a parka. I tend to get mine from Gap and I have just been looking at a couple by Label Lab which is House of Fraser label I think aimed at a younger crowd than the Linea brand. Having said that I am 44 and I have quite a few of their tops and dresses now.

Nice. Looks cosy.

I love mine, even though it is teenage regulation khaki (I am far from teenaged).

I like parkas a lot, but not that one sorry, not keen on the drawstring waist and especially not the breast pockets, especially if you have boobs (I'm assuming at size 14 you do Smile!

got that particular one and absolutely love it. its not too thick and bulky and i don't get overheated in iyWink .

I was hoping you would all be of the same opinion to help me decide Wink

The drawstring isn't too obvious and can be flattened out. My boobs are average, not big enough to make the pocket look odd.

I can't go khaki as I'd match DD who is 3.5. Not sure that would be a great look.

yes. i tried a fat face one on with a belt and that bulked me out. some of the M&S ones are square and boxy. so glad i bought it.

I have this one from Matalan. It's really flattering. I'm 5'1 and size 12 and got it in a 10 ( because they didn't have a 12 in at the time) and I've worn it every day since.

Hey, that's my coat! Wink

Its nice and warm.but not sweaty (I do get hot) stands up to the Cornish rain well, I wear.it without the fur cos it was a bit 'noticeable' for my liking Hmm length is fine on me at almost 5ft4, I'm mid thirties.and a size 14!

The pockets are useful and the zip is decent quality unlike my m and s parka's plastic one

Annoyingly, no compliments on it yet though in real life, except from 5yo DD Blush

Ive got that navy matalan one as well in the 8. Im 5'4 size 6 to 8 but usually an 8, its pretty roomy on me so i pull the drawstring in quite tight at the waist for shape but very comfortable and more flattering than it sounds. Its quite warm but I'm going to need something more substantial when it gets properly cold. Set my heart on the North Face one.
