oh god help me - work xmas night out

I don't do glam, stylish or beautiful and live in jeans at home, and old stuff from Next at work. I need a frock or something for work christmas night out, I have a limited budget - prob up to £50? I am 5'2", size 10 I think but with big tum. No idea any more what might possibly suit me.

I quite like TRUDY or AUDREY but had thought about the cheaply cheerful ASDA but don't know if any would be flattering. I'm 41 & 3/4 and need to be able to wear a normal bra underneath whatever dress I get.

help me please, oh wise ones, before I cancel going out at all.

Do you need to buy shoes too or do already have shoes that you need to work with?

butteriesplease Tue 18-Nov-14 12:45:07

unless I can wear sketchers with it, I'll prob need some shoes, ghave got some old suede strappy things, or heeled knee high boots. would prefer to wear ballet flats really, as would wear them again. I am a fashion disaster.

Do you like a v-neck or round neck?

butteriesplease Tue 18-Nov-14 12:49:58

V neck quite flattering I think, or slash neck type thing. Round neck less good as makes boobs look massive (I think).

thanks nottheOP. quite like the last two, esp the 3rd one(although not sure about the sash thing at the waist, and the netting round the neck,) but the overall shape etc is gorgeous. Last one might look a bit officey? or am i missing something?
first two not me at all I'm afraid.

how about this one?

nottheOP Tue 18-Nov-14 13:06:10

If you're not keen on high heels this sort of thing could work

saiyme09 Tue 18-Nov-14 13:06:39

Newlook also have 25% discount sale so you could clog get some nice black heels or heel boots and a statement accessory.... Just ideas of course

butteriesplease Tue 18-Nov-14 13:16:29

thanks saiyme09 - I hate lace and patterns, sorry. quite like the last one tho!

nottheOP - the Vesper is very lovely (and it would be nice to look like the Bond girl it's presumably named after), but think the back means no bra?? and yes, i might manage not to fall over in kitten heels! good idea. x

nottheOP Tue 18-Nov-14 13:33:38

YOu can get one of those converter things if your strap was showing. I'd personally go bra less but I'm not big boobed

I have a vesper dress and I think they're very flattering when on. Lots of compliments.

Really like the Asda dress - what a bargain! Also comes in navy and black.

What about these for party shoes?

Twinklestein Tue 18-Nov-14 13:41:32

^^ The Asda sequin dress in the OP I mean.

I like the pewter colour the best.

butteriesplease Tue 18-Nov-14 13:42:31

twinkelstein - love those shoes, now on my list. just need the frock to go with them (unless, could I please wear jeans and a fleece?!)

yes, that asda sequin dress is lovely, but sold out in nearly all sizes!

Twinklestein Tue 18-Nov-14 13:43:55

Twinklestein Tue 18-Nov-14 14:50:46

This Dotty P one looks looser...

buttercrumble Tue 18-Nov-14 16:28:31

saiyme09 Tue 18-Nov-14 16:36:07
