Short hair, double chin, big boobs?

ARGHtoAHHH · 18/11/2014 11:01

Does a short hairstyle (say, a bob) make a big bust more noticeable?

I have a pair of bazookas (at 30HH) and have this paranoia that having short hair will accentuate the largeness of my bust - I definitely do not want this.

I also have a slight double chin (turkey neck) and this also puts me off having short hair.

The thing is, I love short hair. My hair is wavy with a few corkscrew curls and I think it would look really nice in a bob. Its always been a dream of mine. But I just don't think it would suit my frame or my chubby (heart shaped) face.

I don't know - I just think that I would feel a bit exposed if I cut my long hair off...

Any thoughts, anyone?

ARGH, someone on this thread posted a photo of her really beautiful curly red bob yesterday. I have no idea of her body shape but the fact her hair wasn't too short and was in fabulous condition gave it the wow factor.

I have absolutely no qualifications but my guess is that if the bob is not too short it will suit your heart shaped face beautifully!

I wish I was brave enough to ditch the straighteners and embrace my curls. It would save so much time!

Thanks Valsoldknickers I'll have a search for the thread (tomorrow, I'm too tired now and will be sleeping soon with any luck)

I am also paranoid that short hair will age me or I'll never be able to grow it back as long as it is now. It all scares me but somehow I still want to do it.

By the way, for the record, curly hair ROCKS Grin

You've just described me ARGH, apart from the lovely corkscrew hair. Get it done. If you've got lovely hair you will feel more confident and that will show in how you hold yourself.
I do know what you mean. I've just had my hair cut into a shorter bob and I can't wait for it to grow, I feel very exposed! (oh and used the same word you did without realising!!)
Do it, if you hate it it will grow back.

ARGH the thread was posted yesterday in Style & Beauty and was titled "Tell me I'm being stupid".

Sorry am rubbish at the techie side of things so can't post the link but it is worth a look!

If your hair looks great short then go for it. People won't focus on the rest of you if you have fab hair.

I am Envy of your curves. Be careful what you wish for.

Argh I haven't got it now but I had a short bob and I had big boobs (36GG) and a chubby face but it looked really good. As long as it sits at the right length for you, which might be a different length to me as mine was quite short, it will look great. Is there maybe anywhere you could go and try shorter wigs on to test the water before you commit and have it chopped?

At the risk of outing myself, here is a photo so you can see my hair as it is now (it's a little longer now though). You can't make out my googly neck in this one. But you can see my bazookas and you can see that my hair is quite thin and prone to frizz. I'm so sure it won't suit me short, but I waaaaaaant it!

Exposed is a very good word to describe how I imagine I would feel with short hair.

Also, how easy will it be to maintain? I just wash and go - literally. No other hair products are used. Also not being able to tie in ponytail Confused

Onelittlelady - hello! You are the one who swapped with me (you sent me the green dress, right?)

Trying a wig is a good idea.

My hair is very temperamental though and has a life of its own. Sometines it looks quite straight, other times its really curly, and then it'll be wavy, and then curly with waves and chunks of straight in there. Short hair - hmmm - don't know how I would cope!

Thanks all for replying - off to find that thread!

I have big boobs, a double chin and curly hair and recently got a pixie cut. I've never had so many compliments on my hair - don't be scared to just go for it.

iliketa!! Wow! I wonder if you could post a pic? I love pixie hair, but if I'm already having a nose bleed about a bob, I would probably keel over at the thought of a pixie cut Grin

I've had long hair for so long I'm sure I would feel like Aslan when the White Witch cuts off his mane

You have a great face - you look really pretty & animated - bright. Go for it, but talk carefully to your hairdresser. Do you run/do aerobics/Zumba? How do you look with a headband (if it's short you won't be able to restrain it when you exercise as it will bounce out). Nearly sent you a kiss then by mistake, I'm all excited for you.

thank you Eastpoint Blush you sure know how to make a gal feel good on a Wednesday morning!

I generally don't do any exercise Confused - which is bad as I could really do with it. I've been piling on the pounds since that photo was taken 3 months ago.

I really do not suit headbands (although I love them on other people). My hair is really fine and it just looks...not sure how to describe it other that "pttttttthhhhhhhh". Rest assured its not a good look.

found the thread! She has gorgeous hair and so I am thinking maybe I CAN do it.

Still scares me though!

My mum and DP would kill me if I did haha they love my hair long and I am always threatening to go for a bob. My mum always says it will never grow back as long as is now, once I cut it, at the age I am. She says keep your hair as long as possible for as long as possible. Once you reach a certain age you will have to cut it short anyway

Has anyone done this and regretted it?

ARGH I did send you the green dress, yes.

I think you could definitely pull a bob off but they do take some styling to sit right after the initial cut, one of the reasons I grew mine out (it's recently been chopped again after a disaster with a perming attempt but we won't talk about that!) I didn't have the time, or the energy to be styling mine every day after my hair type changed overnight i might add

Go to someone who specialises in curly hair as cutting curly hair short is v difficult. Could you go shorter in stages to help you get used to it?

Onelittlelady, the dress! Did you express interest in my blue monsoon dress by the way? I was sure it was you. If so, private message me your address and I'll send it on.

I was reading a previous thread about Curly Girl hairdresser or something, but he was based in Birmingham. I think there was another specialist in London. Must find out...

I think it would suit you, but yes do it in stages. It can be a big shock to suddenly go much shorter.

FelixTitling · 19/11/2014 09:46

Big boobed here too and I've just done it in stages. The shorter it got the curlier it got and I am now past the point of straightening it as it has layers and very little weight.

Dh and several other people have said it suits me/made lovely comments. Dh said to go shorter, but like you, I think it would be too much, though I have in the past. Ironically, when it's v short I lose the curls.

I think you would suit it, you have a lovely heart shaped face.

Thanks Felix.

yes it worries me that I will lose my curls if I go short...its just the type of this my unruly hair would do.

We are very similar hair types by the looks of it but mine is thick, similar length and curls/waves/straight. I am toying with the idea of going much shorter, can you do it first and post a pic so I can see if I want mine done please Grin

your hair is lovely as it is but if you cut it and don't like it, it will grow back! I have been chin length, waist length and everything inbetween. Just go for it.

I chopped mine to chin length recently and have had lots of compliments. It took me about a year to work up the courage but I'm so glad I did!
