Stylish ladies, what would you do with this hair? Fed up!

Hi,
I'm 37 weeks pregnant and basically just feeling really boring and unattractive. I've got a hairdressers appointment at the weekend and I desperately need a change! At the moment my hair is pretty low maintenance (mostly because it's usually tied back). I'm pretty much open to any suggestions regarding cut/colour, though it'd probably be easier to stay the same colour. Anything that'll take hours to style is probably out with a newborn, but I was hoping to avoid anything too 'mummish' too since I'm still young. My hair is completely unstyled in the picture- I've tried to blank out my face but still give you an idea of my colouring etc.
Any help is REALLY appreciated!

my hair was like yours - long enough, but I couldn't be bothered to do much with it. I had a fringe cut just this week -and it's totally transformed me.

Yes, I have to spend a few minutes styling the fringe- but the rest of it I can stil tie back and it looks a bit more 'styled' iyswim?

Could you beat to wait? The texture and volume of your hair can change markedly postpartum. What suits you now might not work for your hair in three months.

I'd go for fringe too. what type is your hair, dry, fine etc? does it suit layers? You could maybe get the bottom ones sharpened up/trimmed or grow out/blend in.

Whatever you do don't cut it short unless you're sure you won't miss the length! (I speak from experience here)

My hair is in pretty decent condition since I stopped straightening it at christmas, it can get tangly though since it has a wave to it naturally.
I really like the fringe idea- I think that would look noticeably different without too much 'commitment' or styling. If I had the confidence to go much shorter I'd be tempted but this is really the shortest my hair has ever been! I think my hair needs a bit of length to stop it from being too unruly

yy, keep the length and have a fringe cut in. Looks better when it's scraped back and you can just was the fringe and put the rest up still filthy when your too tired to breathe.

Don't have a fringe unless you're sure, I hate a fringe on me, they take ages to grow out.

OP - I'm liking squoosh's suggestion of a side swept fringe. Also either in Boots etc you could get some sprays that allow you to work more with your waves, where you either blow dry naturally with it or leave to dry... that can look really nice and give a change.

'Side swept fringes are generally more flattering than blunt fringes.' Meh, depends entirely on the face. Looks shite on as many people as it looks good on and, IMO, it's starting to look dated on those for who it isn't truly optimal.

Yes, it depends on the face but I see a lot of ill considered blunt fringes about these days. In fact I think the blunt fringe is starting to look a bit passé, a bit too Zooey Whatshername.

Side fringe would be nice.
As a PP mentioned, remember your hair could change after the birth.
My hair is still recovering after almost 18 months.
Having said that, it didn't stop me getting highlights and a side fringe before DS was born.
Whatever you do, you must add a photo update!

That sort of fringe is ever so forgiving, maintenance wise. A wee bit too short or a bit too long doesn't look odd at all - blunt fringes do need to be exactly the right length which can be a PITA if one isn't up for cutting ones own hair.

I actually think your hair is fab. Love the ashy colour - not so much the auburn bits at the bottom. Get an inch or 2 cut off, get Bleach London purple shampoo to get an even stronger ash colour and invest in a Babylis Big Hair. Sorry in advance if I'm overstepping the mark here but it's actually that top you're wearing that's a bit 'mumsy-ish'.

Trucking I was going to say same to OP, her colour does look great...

If money is going to be tight see training salon nights for highlights etc... often are very good.

and a Babyliss Big Hair I was going to suggest too but some people not keen. Personally I do like mine for styling that's not super hard. It gives the ends and a fringe more of a polished look in my opinion.

Op, I have a very short fringe, blunt cut. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, however, it's ace when you have a newborn. I put the back up in a bunch, bun, messy knot; whatever I can be arsed doing. I only wash it twice a week. Every other day (ish) I just wash the fringe. It looks likes I make an effort, but I don't!

I have hair quite similar to yours (quite fine?) I would possibly argue the fringe. If you have really thick locks it looks great but with fine hair (and especially after birth) it can look a bit 'spidery' and flyaway. Have you looked at hairstyles for long hair, where you can do a couple of really neat simple tucks and a bit of hairspray and it looks amazing - and many centred around messy hair (grin). I would be tempted to grow a bit longer and try out a couple of styles. Pinterest is an amazing resource for this. I think short hair is actually deceptively high maintenance actually, plus you have beautiful hair and it looks well maintained, maybe go longer?
