I'm in the market for either a tinted moisturiser or a sheer foundation. I have dehydrated skin (albeit with an oilier tzone), so I'm not expecting either of them to do the job of moisturiser.

So, do I go for NARS, Mac or some other miracle dewy skin-inducing product?

Think I could also do with a concealer, have thread veins on my cheek bones and dark rings under eyes, but my skin is in good nick for my age, hence wanting sheer-ish coverage.

I think I'd prefer one with built in SPF, so I'm not faffing with an additional product underneath, but if this is the thinking of a mad woman I'm happy to be corrected.

Go for Nars, it's gorgeous. Both tinted moisturiser and concealer are excellent.

Not make up but re your dehydrated skin - after seeing it recommended loads, I bought the Superdrug (!) Vitamin E moisture boost facial serum, and I think it's making a difference.

Re concealer, have you got both a light reflecting product for under eye, and a creamier one for thread veins etc? This is the combo that I find works best with a lighter makeup. Creamier ones can also be used for under eye, but they do leave a more 'made-up' look. Mac is great for the creamier, as is good old Rimmel. For light reflecting, I like Bobbi Brown, but then I am very pale.

Thanks!

I used to use Mac concealer in NW20, which did the job nicely. I hadn't even thought about light reflecting versus creamy.

Thanks for the tip about the serum, I'm using the Boot Lift and Luminate (?) one at the moment but I don't like the way it feels on my skin. I was given a couple of samples of the Clinique Smart serum stuff recently, so I'll give those a bash too.

I'm cool toned, with a tendency towards pinkness. Ham faced, I believe, is the technical term.

Zachary, what's excellent about them? Nourishing and moist or good coverage or what?

Ham faced? Arf. I am more white/grey toned, with blue veins. So like Stilton basically.
A lovely combo.

You say you dont like the way the serum feels on your skin? It's not pilling, is it? If so, you're rubbing it in a touch too much.

No, it just doesn't feel nourishing, my skin still feels tight after putting it on. Other serums I've tried feel a lot more hydrating.

Barry I have similar colouring to you (although am now a bit Blush at hearing it described as ham faced!!)

I wear Dior Star foundation. It isn't a true "sheer" base but it gives excellent coverage even when worn lightly, as I do for daytime (as opposed to a heavier evening make up) and any hint of pinkness is toned down instantly.

That's the tricky thing, I think Ujjayi, my Bobbi Brown foundation is just too yellow, I look a horrible orange colour and really 'made up' when it goes on.
It's about toning down the pinkness without trying to turn it into another colour. Ham into pork, if you will. Grin
