Funeral - help

My DM passed away last weekend and we're holding her cremation on Friday.

It sounds really prosaic, but I actually have nothing to wear for it, and it's stressing me out (ridiculously, given the situation).

I have these boots I'd like to wear ideally (I don't really 'do' heels or courts; I knackered my back when I was pregnant, and flats make me look like a dumpling) but no dress.

Info on me: I'm a largish 16, all boobs and bum mainly - so v-necks suit best. I'd prefer a dress with sleeves, but would also be open to separates or something short sleeved with a jacket over it - I have a nice smart navy jacket which would work. Colour wise, funereal (black or navy probably) or teal at a push - mum loved the colour and my DSis is wearing a turquoise dress that mum liked a lot on her.

I've tried this but it was a bit too 'party' and made me feel fat, and this was a very matronly length - I'm 29, so I don't want to frump.

I'm just really struggling and it feels very frivolous to be spending so much time thinking about it, but I think we're going to have enough to think about on the day so I want to be comfortable in whatever I'm wearing.

Oh, I really like those first two Red, and JL does next day to store delivery... I might order them to try on.

I'm sorry for your loss. I understand completely. I became over occupied with what to wear to my mothers funeral. I think its a way of distracting ourselves. Its not frivolous. Its a coping mechanism.

I'd suggest a black jersey wrap dress with a tough of teal somewhere....maybe a scarf or nail polish.

I'll have a search for a dress and come back.

I think the next one is a maternity dress? I like the shape of the phase eight one but not a massive fan of the colour.

Thank you for the reassurance, I just have felt bad about not concentrating more on her. Which is odd, as I don't think she cares any more...

I didn't notice that.. Sorry. Its much harder than I thought to find a simple wrap dress with sleeves.

I know. Stupid fashion. It's very annoying.

I think they might be a bit long? Which is a shame as I do like Boden usually, but I'm not the tallest person and I find things a bit too long look frumpy as I can't rock interesting shoes to glam them up.

Would you have time to get the hems taken up?

You might need to see [[http://www.next.co.uk/x542086s2#676840x54 this]] in the flesh to see if smart enough

I don't know. Possibly, possibly not, I don't really want to get something that I then have to do more with, IYSWIM. I feel like I might have enough to organise without it, and I suspect that I would intend to do it, not get around to it and end up wearing something that I wasn't particularly comfortable in.
