I like to look stylish and put together I look a bit mismatchy and thrown together

I have the standard uniform -

Biker jackets
Chelsea boots
Short uggs
Warm Zara padded coat

What should I add to my collection?

Thanks, o wise SBers.

Am I all good then and need not shop anymore?

MrsLannister Thu 06-Nov-14 20:47:35

Maybe my school is unstylish <gasp> but everyone I know on the school run wears either their work clothes or parkas grin

UriGeller Thu 06-Nov-14 20:48:23

A child?

LesleyKnopeFan Thu 06-Nov-14 20:50:26

To be fair most days I do the same; come home, clean up carnage form morning madness, walk dog, clear up more mess, then it's pick-up time.

But for the days when I might meet a friend for coffee or go somewhere other than home imagine that I am wondering how to update my look by adding a few pieces.

Haven't bought anything yet this winter.

I thought uggs were a no-no... Ps (is this for real?)

NickiFury Thu 06-Nov-14 20:52:53

I put on whatever is to hand. They're lucky I just wrap myself in the bed quilt and drop dd off in that.

LesleyKnopeFan Thu 06-Nov-14 20:56:15

Actually, prob should add that this is more of a 'what is good this season for somebody who doesn't like to dress up too much but wants to to look trendy' question.

I do the school run everyday plus all other domestic stuff, don't have a job to go to (tho working on that), so don't have any real 'direction' of what to wear, other than the above.

Was thinking of getting a large tartan scarf to update myself a bit, is that a good starting point?

Milmingebag Thu 06-Nov-14 20:59:41

If you live where I live the fleece is still very of the moment along with a nice mid ankle swinging bootcut with a well loved knackered pair of trainers. When it's really chilly the side listing ugg boot things are in evidence.

Bed hair in a burgundy or orange wonky bob with a nice hand/neck tattoo is very much styled out too.

HTH grin

LesleyKnopeFan Thu 06-Nov-14 21:01:03

Wonky, orange hair. I'm possibly rocking that look already......

BlueEyedWonder Thu 06-Nov-14 21:02:52

My uniform is the standard parka, stripe top, skinny jeans and ankle boots.
I recently bought a tartan scarf in Sainsburys. They're everywhere!
I'm also on the look out for a green leather satchel.

I had no clue that school run mums had any must haves boggles

missorinoco Thu 06-Nov-14 21:04:42

UriGeller beat me to it.

cerealqueen Thu 06-Nov-14 21:05:35

See, its looking like everybody else that makes me want to look for something non generic!! The kids wear a uniform, you don't have to!!!

LesleyKnopeFan Thu 06-Nov-14 21:07:07

I don't have any must have boggles....grin

I wish I'd started this thread with 'what's fashionable this winter?' and left it at. I added the school run bit to show I wear casual clothes, no heels, dresses etc. and the uniform was a reference to me and not a 'a school run uniform'.

gaggiagirl Thu 06-Nov-14 21:08:38

milminge must live in my town smile add a can of energy drink a fag and a blingy silver cross pram the size of a tank and you should be very "now".

However, how about thick tights, jumper dress, biker, scarf and ankle boots? I've recently discovered 300 denier thermal fleece lined tights they are as warm as toast.

amy83firsttimer Thu 06-Nov-14 21:12:01

I'd say a classic wool coat would fit well with your other items. Would also look nice with the tartan scarf. (ignores teasing studiously in show of solidarity)

TheSpottedZebra Thu 06-Nov-14 21:25:01

gaggia tell me more about these tights please. ..!

DiscoDancer Thu 06-Nov-14 23:10:33

Yes, where can I get these amazing from?!

frankietwospots Thu 06-Nov-14 23:14:34

I'm adding these leather hi-tops to my collection to replace Converse which go soggy in wet weather:

How about a plaid shirt? Uniqlo have fab brushed cotton ones.

DiscoDancer Thu 06-Nov-14 23:19:06

Tights. I meant amazing tights.

MilkshakeMonkey Fri 07-Nov-14 07:11:31

There's nothing wrong in caring about your appearance, whether it be the school run, a trip to the shops or to see a friend. Surely its about feeling good about yourself!

I have the cosy tights they're fab! Mine are from primark (cheap but surprisingly good! )
I think a good coat this time of year is a key item (as you will be wearing prob every day). I have a lush long red, which makes me smile just putting it ongrin

dollius Fri 07-Nov-14 07:14:38

I used to do the school run in my pyjamas and slippers. Made the boys jump out of the car and take themselves in.

It was the height of sophistication. Honestly all the mothers are doing it now.

dollius Fri 07-Nov-14 07:15:44

Loving the must-have boggles, though. Must look into those...

Eastpoint Fri 07-Nov-14 07:28:04

When you look in your wardrobe are there gaps? Eg no warm dresses in which case buy a dress. If you don't have any obvious gaps then you can save your time & money for when you do. <possibly missing the point of capitalist society>.
