Have you seen (not necessarily bought) an item of clothing that you fell in love with and can't forget?!

These shoes did it for me:

Has anything had a similar effect on any of you? :)

I remember a top I didn't buy when I was about 14 - more than half my life ago. The daftness.

Some Jimmy Choos I almost bought in the sale, was all poised to purchase, thought had best sleep on it.
Got a positive pg test next morning and thought that buying nursery stuff gor pfb would be eminently more sensible.
Why? Confused Sad

Many times, i have also driven to the shops at 9am the next day to buy an item after having had a sleepless night thinking about it, only to decide it didn't look so good 'the morning after'.

I am currently coveting a pink raincoat in Monsoon and a purple summer dress in the phase eight sale.

Yes. A 50s style dress I saw about seven years ago. It had thick, vertical rainbow coloured stripes.
I was planning a wedding at the time and saw this in a magazine. I would give almost anything to own that dress

I always buy something if I'm dithering , then I return if I change my mind . Most shops do refunds . I've learnt my lesson of going back the next day and the item is gone never to be in stock again. Obviously this involves taking a lot of stuff back but hey ho .

A vintage Levi denim jacket. It was very worn and one sleeve was torn above the cuff but the denim was very comfortable and soft. It looked good. But my DM threw it out and 'surprised' me with a generic brand one from Littlewoods catalogue that was as stiff as cardboard with popper fastenings. I'm still haven't entirely forgiven her...

A navy cape coat from Ted Baker about ten years ago. It was out of my budget then and I've never seen one as nice again Sad I also want a Cos coat that I bought and returned a couple of years ago due to cost. They did a similar one last year so I'm hoping this year to get one.

I have had an expensive winter coat before (Tommy Hilfiger) and need to remember that if I really love a winter coat it is worth buying, as I will wear it daily for probably 5 winters ! Whereas my current Topshop one is looking v tatty after two.

I saw a dress in Karen Millen while out wedding dress shopping with a friend. I didn't think it was the done thing to buy a frock when the point was her dress but I couldn't get it out my mind. I ended up chasing it down months later to be told that there were only a handful left in Europe! Lucky MH in laws were holidaying in a place near where one was so I got it finally. I have never before or again been so besotted with clothing

A pair of black leather gloves with different colours going up the side of each finger. Saw them in Paris when DH and I were in our first flush. I often think of them...

Yes. It was a dress for DD, utterly gorgeous, and I don't know why I didn't just buy it. But it was TKMaxx, and of course wasn't there when I went back the next day Sad

Was either Spanish or Italian brand, begining with 'M', but I cannot even recall it to start looking elsewhere. Damn, and double damn!

It was just dreamy, and now she's big enough for it 3 years later I have never seen the like since.

There have been things for me too, in the past, but I can't think of any atm Blush I have kicked myself plenty of times though.

Black wool coat in White Co. sale a few years ago, wrap style, reduced from £400ish (overpriced) to £198 (acceptable if many years wear to be had). I had the money. Should have bought it! I keep looking each autumn to see if they do something similar, but they haven't yet.

And a lovely aged and battered leather bag I fell in love with on Ebay. Forgot to bid. Devastated, especially as it went for £25 or so.

Midnight blue Mulberry Anthony bag. I was pondering treating myself then prices went up by nearly £100. Just wish I had bought it when it was less expensive, I've not seen the colour since.

That was a few years ago now and I still look every now and again. I think I like it even more because I can't have it iyswim.

If you have several details about an item search for it on ebay every now and then. There was a John Rocha dress I missed out on four years ago, and I gave up looking, even on ebay, then about a month ago I was randomly browsing ebay and I found it!

Maxmara swing coat. Black. Saw it in the sale, circa 2001. Too much pondering. Didn't buy. It would still look a dream and it still plays on my mind. Hmmmphh.

But this is what Ebay is for!

Once tried on a bonkers but gorgeous Oilily full length faux fur coat in TK Maxx (off white, oversized, loads of nordic stitch detailing). Was a mad garment and £££s, even in TK Maxx, so walked away. It remained in my thoughts for a couple of winters. One day I was sat at the PC and it came to mind. I decided to look for it on Ebay....and there it was waiting for me (complete with a buy it now price). So I did and we have lived happily ever after.
