Clinique make up, worth the money?

I do love Clinique make up but £17 for a lipstick and £22 for a foundation/tinted moisturiser seems extravagant, does anyone here use Clinique and think its worth the money?

Their foundations are far superior to any of the cheaper ones I have tried (although I have heard good things about a Chanel one and am itching to try it now).

I rarely buy any of their other makeup but I do use the skincare so I time buying it for the bonus time gifts and often get free mascara, lipstick, eyeshadow etc as part of that and it's always been pretty good, tbh possibly not that much better than reckon/loreal but when you are getting it free it's good!

The new CC cream is also very good, I wear it under foundation when I want to look particularly finished but it is £28 a tube.

Some of its good. Not sure it's worth as much as it is though. I worked for them for 10 years. I didn't even use all their stuff when I had 65% discount :) I do like their stay matte foundation though - although they have changed it recently and it isn't as full a coverage as it used to be.

I don't think much of their colour products, you can get just as good lipsticks and nail colours etc for a fraction of the price.

Yes because I always use all products up and only buy more when they run out. so a lippie lasts months and I used to get 6 months out of Clinique foundation so works out at pennies per day. Have only changed now to Bobbi Brown as Clinique discontinued various products I liked. But rate their lippies- some of the only ones that don't make my lips peel, their soft eye pencils, blusher ( powder) and lipgloss.

Oh I get about four months out a foundation, which works out cheaper over the year than the cheap ones I used to buy. Good point lazy.

Hate Clinique ... I spent years thinking I was allergic to everything as I was "even" allergic to Clinique. Now I just realize Clinique is mis-branded as fit for super sensitive skin and a bit crap to boot. Benefit/nars/no7 all beat Clinique hands down I think

I totally rate their foundation- their Even Better foundation is the best I've ever had. I use their concealer too. For mascara, blusher and lippy I go to the body shop.

I really like that their products are fragrance free.

I don't have many of their products as I seem to be more loyal to other brands, but the Clinique products I do have (chubby sticks for lips, mascara, lipstick, lip liner) are very good and I would buy them again.

Thanks for your replies. I love Clinique lipstick, its so creamy and they do the perfect shade for me, creamy nude. However, its the initial outlay which hits my purse hard. I know it does last and I only use one shade of lipstick, one foundation, eyeliner etc but they all seem to run out at the same time, plus if the price keeps going up it could end up being about £20 just for a lippie. I also love love love their comforting cream cleanser but can't justify spending £17 on that anymore. My boyfriend cringes at the prices and said no one will know I have a £17 lipstick on so why not get something cheaper. Its not that I am bothered by the name of Clinique, I am far from being a brand snob, but I just feel nicer with the make up on and it seems to last all day too.

However, funds are low :(

Oh I'm the opposite, everything but Clinique brings me out in a rash, hives or red itchy eyes. I swear by City Block, haven't been tanned in years and friends younger than me who don't use SPF daily have many more lines than me. Now and then I try something else but it's always the same. Well that or Clarins, but I can't afford it! Bonus time is my friend.

Yes. The products last along time so better value. The face wash can last me up to a year as you only need a tiny amount. Even better foundation is excellent. Apart from Mac powder and a collection 2000 concealer I use Clinique. It seems to suit my skin.
Don't go near the purple toner stuff though!

You can often get Clinique on Strawberrynet.

I've bought from here a lot, the products are genuine, free shipping and quick delivery.

Nude lippies can be tricky, if you've found one that you love then it's worth sticking with it. . Same as foundation, if you love it, stick with it. Eyeliner, eyeshadow etc are easier to experiment with.

FYI next month's Glamour magazine comes with mini Clinique freebies, so maybe wait til then and try them out? Even if you have to buy several magazines, that's still only £2 per magazine so cheaper than buying the products!

I use the mascara, a tube lasts for ages and it's the best I've found. As is their skin cream. I'm just coming to the end of a pot I bought in January - so it's lasted 6 months.

I agree that you can experiment with cheaper brands for eye shadows and lippies. I have a Rimmel lippie- Kate Moss No 3- which is a fab shade and love it but after a day my lips are cracked due to the perfume.

I don't especially rate Clinique eye shadows but my mum ( 86 bless her) can only use Clinique shadows as anything else makes her eyes itch.

I have several high-end staples that I always come back to- foundation, concealer, mascara ( Lancome) and eye pencil ( soft and doesn't drag) but am happy to experiment with cheaper shadows and lippies.

Thanks all, I'm now tempted to stick to the Clinique products I know suit me. My boyfriend goes on about the price of lipstick but he spends £200 on sunglasses which I wouldnt dream of but he said its not worth buying cheaper if its not what you want. So much for his lecture about my lipstick. The stuff does last and its not as if I have loads more of different shades.

Absolutely worth the money. Love Clinique foundations they are fantastic (and cheaper than loads of other premium brands!)

Chubby sticks for eyes are amazing...so quick and handy.

I could go on and on!

My skin goes to pot as well when I use anything else but 3-step.

I agree with Lazysummerdays take no notice of your boyfriend, if that is the only lipstick you love the colour of then why change. You may spend many more 's trying to find something cheaper but not as good.

What's it to do with your bf? You get to choose how to spend your own money.

I remember some guy at a party banging on about how shocing the price of handbags was but turned out he was spending 200 quid plus on runners three times a year...

Anyway, tbh I think clinique are rated for their skincare rather thaan their makeup but if you like it go for it! I used to wear their superfit foundation years ago and liked it. I love their cream cleanser and use that now and a good bit of their skin care but may makeup is varied. Estee l for foundation, have an urban decay palette and a cheap mascara. Have some mac eyeshadows but the ud palatte has taken over. I'm not big into lippie but do have some chubby stcks..

If you have to pick and choose I'd probably say prioritise foundation, then eyeshadow, then lippies...

And stop telling your bf what it costs!

in my opinion.. absolutely, 100%, the lash power mascara.
But that's it . Nothing else, have tried most.
Skin care.. awful on my greasy but v sensitive skin

Lash Power mascara is phenomenal - hope they never change the formulation. I like their anti-ageing handcream and tinted lip balms, also their cream blush in a stick is lovely.

Nothing to do with your boyfriend what you spend on yourself.
