Is this dressy enough for Ascot?

Love the first one, but be careful if its too short, otherwise, as mrsbucket says, you wont get into the royal enclose.
What about a grey hat?

To clarify, much depends on the enclosure but its basically formal daywear with a few restrictions depending on where you are.

Grandstand is hats or fascinators, dresses must have straps, invisible ones don't count. Even if worn with a jacket, top or dress needs to comply, midrifts must be covered and although there is no formal restriction on dress length generally keep it decent and in line with formal daywear.

Royal Enclosure, shoulders covered ideally or broad straps i.e. inch plus, as above re jackets, dress must still comply and dress/ skirt should be knee length or longer, must wear a hat, fascinators are a no no. I think its relaxed a bit and length can be just above the knee now.

It all gets a bit easier in the ring and on the heath, smart is all it needs to be and that just adds to the fun of the day out!

So in a nutshell either dress would do the job if you are anywhere other than the Royal Enclosure in which case you might need to rethink on the first one! Enjoy the day!

just had a look at the second one and i really like it, much better than the first.

id say its too short if you want to go anywhere near the royal enclosure.

and i think its a bit too much like day wear sorry.

First one. But you absolutely need a hat and not a fascinator. I'd stick with yellow. And classy accessories. It's beautiful and summery.
Personally I find the second quite ugly, but I don't like that style.

Love the first (will be fine as long as it's knee length) but not the second. What are you wearing with?

JRsandCoffee Fri 06-Jun-14 12:41:25

Which enclosure? Second I don't like but thats just my taste, first looks pretty short (spoken like a true oooooooold laaaadeee) but cute if you have fab legs and a lovely hat!

SquallyShowers Fri 06-Jun-14 11:14:15

Both nice. First is more classic and summery.

Or am I right in thinking it has the be a certain width now?

Valdeeves Fri 06-Jun-14 09:39:52

Love the first!!

littlegreengloworm Fri 06-Jun-14 09:04:29

Love the first but not the second

annebullin Fri 06-Jun-14 09:02:22

littlewhitebag Fri 06-Jun-14 08:19:44

The first one is lovely. Very elegant and summery.

CompanionCube Fri 06-Jun-14 06:04:10

I really like the first one.

Monty27 Fri 06-Jun-14 02:05:42

I do like the second as well, but not how it's worn smile

RonaldMcDonald Fri 06-Jun-14 01:59:17

Love both

burnishedsilver Fri 06-Jun-14 00:19:54

Yes. Lovely.

Monty27 Fri 06-Jun-14 00:12:02

Oh the first one is lovely but do remember to keep it classy grin

I'm not keen at all on the second one and the shoes that are teamed with it are horrors.

I've never been, but that first dress is lovely and elegant. smile

fraggle73 Fri 06-Jun-14 00:05:24

Yes, it's lovely.

Justinepants Thu 05-Jun-14 23:40:58

It depends on what you put with it but I'd say yes, definitely.
