plus size wedding guest dress, opinions?

linky

Is that suitable for a wedding in June? Or is it not posh enough?

I had looked at this one but I think its just a little bit too short for what I would be comfortable with. Although its not that much shorter than the other one.

I am 5ft9 and a size 24, and apparently I have a cool skin tone.

:)

I think that's fine. I'm around the same size and wearing this to a wedding in June.

That's really nice. I have a maxi dress from new look and love it, just feel like wearing a shorter dress to this wedding.

I can't wear maxis as I feel like a sofa in them. I am a 10-12. Shows what confidence does
I wouldn't wear any of those option tbh

Oh hell no!!! That kimono is identical to one of my dressing gowns!!!

I love the two shorter dresses, I'd probably go for the eves option because I don't like my upper arms today. I think that with the right attitude and accessories they're both beautiful and totally perfect for a wedding guest

I like your dress panda, it can be dressed up or down I think. I'm another who can't wear maxis, I feel like a ship under full sail Grin
Ronald's suggestion is a nice colour but so many gathers tends to be unflattering.

TShirt dresses are phenomenally unstructured and as such are typically unflattering to a lot of shapes. If you want some cushions for your "sofa" maxi dress look then stick me on a TShirt dress!!!

I personally quite like gatherings etc but I am a different size
Ditto t shirt dresses.
I find skater dresses abhorrent in all but the under 10s yo not size. They have been the worst fashion style for yrs IMO but I see them everywhere so they must be popular

I tend to wear more fitted at the waist things, anything that isn't fitted at the waist makes me look like an elephant wearing a tent. The kimono and t shirt styles are out, as are swing dresses.

I'm not keen on skater dresses, but they are the best of a bad bunch.

I would actually prefer something like this but not in that colour a it wouldn't suit me, and I don't have £90 to spend.

I love your first choice. With great accessories it would look v chic. I like the second too, prettier, more English Rose.

Depends what style you want.

green midi nice I know you like waists

Green washes me out but the shape of that wrap dress isn't bad.

Any suggestions for what accessories to put with the first one? What colour shoes?

Do you mean the purple or the washing out green?

I had also looked at this one.

Its a skater dress but because of the longer length it doesn't look like the others. Don't know if its too black for a wedding though?

The purple has a nice shape. The last three you have posted are good shapes, its just colour.

Purple should suit me, but someone once told me plain dark purple was too harsh (though they might have just been a spiteful cow) and I know that green definitely doesn't agree with me, even though I have green eyes.

My problem with skater dresses is that they look shit generally.
Not always though but they are rarely rarely good IMO
I am a bit taller than you and it could be my weird tit waist length thing going on but skater dress waists always seem too high?

I think any dress colour is fine tbh

Report
PandaFeet · 03/05/2014 01:09

I need the "waist" to cut right under my bust, like an empire line, so that it then flares out over my tummy and hips. Anything with a waist lower would just cut me at the wrong place and draw attention to my widest part, instead of drawing attention to the slimmest part.

There is such variety in colours though, does all green not suit?

I think purple is fine personally, what an odd thing for her to say. Often I think purple is softer on complexions than black/navy. Maybe he hated purple....

Depends on the wedding for accessories and where you live...regarding temp, rain etc
