Just tried my new Parlux hairdryer for the first time and it is a revelation !

Bought a Parlux 385 hairdryer based on all the positive comments I've seen both here and elsewhere about them in the hopes it would help tame my hair. I was fairly sceptical as I have very thick, long hair that is curly and frizzy left to its own devices. I usually just rough dry it, after which it is a dry frizzy mess ( my ds says it makes me look like Robert Plant on a bad day ) and only looks reasonable after I use straighteners.
Just dried my hair with the Parlux and was amazed at the difference. Just rough dried it as usual so I could compare it to my old drier and even so I could actually, for the first time ever, have ventured out without having to use straighteners. It was pretty much straight all over with the exception of a couple of slightly wavy bits at the front, but the waves were soft and actually looked ok rather than my usual frizzy blow drying aftermath. If I had taken time to use a brush as I dried, then I think it would all be straight.
But my hair is not just straight, the condition is better too, both soft and shiny which I have never had before after blow drying. The hairdryer has ceramic ionic technology which I hadn't expected to do much really but the combination of that and the higher power of the dryer have transformed my hair.
I have never had a professional quality dryer before and thought that the extra price wouldn't be justified by its performance and expected that I would probably be disappointed as my hair is so unruly but have to say I am absolutely amazed at the difference a better hairdryer has made.

It's the Parlux 385 bought online from Parlux uk, who delivered it quickly, my only criticism being that the packaging was a bit inadequate - just in a Jiffy bag but although the Parlux box inside was a bit crushed, the dryer was ok.

I have the ionic one...dries extra fast and softer and shinier too. Definitely worth the money imo.

I bought a parlux 3800 compact ionic one a few weeks ago and it has been very good. Although weirdly it doesn't seem to get as hot as my old hairdryer (which actually started to melt itself, so maybe a good thing).

Not meaning to hijack your thread OP, but does your dryer get hot enough? Mine does the job, just seems quite cool compared to previous dryers.

I've only used it once so far and it seemed quite hot but then my previous dryer was ancient and one that someone had left in our flat when they moved, so not much to compare with. Will report back when I've tried it again.
I would normally have had to wash my hair again before now, mainly because even with daily straightening it would have become too unruly but it has stayed straight enough that I have not really had to bother straightening it, which is amazing for me.
Slightly worried that if I wash it again the spell will be broken and I'll find the hairdryer isn't the miracle it seemed to be and I was just having my first ever, never to be repeated, good hair days !

I do find as it's so powerful I need to use a protective serum when blow drying.

Anyone have a Parlux who, like me, has short choppy hair which needs rough drying with some volume ( my hair is fine). If so, what model do you recommend, please?

I got one but I think it's no better than my old hairdryer, it's fine but it wasn't worth the extra cost, my hair is exactly the same as it was.

I was about to buy the 3800 and now that I've read this thread I need the 385 but I've read that a lot of them have a European two pinned plug.

On Parlux.co.uk when I go to pay by paypal the price goes down which is odd. I don't if it can be trusted...

Sorry, mine is the compact 3200 ceramic ionic one. And it's hot, but not very very hot - I don't use any heat protecting serums or anything like that. And it doesn't take any longer to dry my hair than with my old dryer.

I bought mine through lookfantastic.com and got a free hairbrush with the purchase. Paid using a credit card. UK plug.

They are obscenely expensive...mine was £88, it was meant to dry my hair quicker and leave it less fuzzy, had it worked it like that it would gave been worth every penny...but it didn't.....still it dries my hair and it's a lovely colour!

Yes I noticed it doesn't seem as hot!! The full speed seems a little warmer hotter but my goodness I get blown away!! and anything within a few metres!

Dries in half the time though and I only ever rough dry/head upside down then tame with straighteners or babyliss hot air styler so not complaining :-)
