How long does your hair colour last?

Either home done, or salon?
Mine was coloured 9 days ago and it is fading already (mid brown). Worse still I can already see tiny silver roots peeking out !

I go to the hairdresser's because I'm always worried I'll mess it up, but am wondering if it is worth the expense !

Just posted new thread asking for recommendations for home hair dye!

I find that the greys coming through so quickly is the most depressing thing. Sounds like your hair just grows incredibly quickly. Perhaps try a touch up in between? I think you can get kits now with wands in them as applicators so you can specifically colour the roots.

Oh and I use home colour kits which are fine. They're v easy to apply.

I find the home dyes last longer and give a better colour

If money was no object, I would get in dyed professionally every three weeks as it fades sooooo fast. As it is, I touch up in between with Nice n'easy root touch up kit by Clairol (2 for £7 in Boots recently). Works really well. I'm seriously thinking of trying whole head colour myself next time as I seem to have found the perfect shade (dark blonde). Hair lovely and shiny with it, too.

Mine has always faded within 2 weeks (with a semi or permanent). I used to spend a fortune at the hairdressers but now do at home.

Depends on what shampoo I use, I'm hoping this dye i done other day fades quick as it came out to dark

I have tried every home dye on the market up to the most expensive and have found Aldi to be the best believe it or not!?

Give if you use some Palmolive or Head and Shoulders shampoo it will fade your dye out quicker. HTH

My hairdresser has been giving me highlights and lowlights and blends it so well I can go up to 10 weeks without a salon visit.

It is still quite light but when it was lighter I had to go ever six weeks. After having a chat saying I haven't got the time or the inclination to go to a salon that often this was the perfect solution for me.

I used to have highlights 5 times a year as my grey hair came through after a few weeks. I have now reduced it to 3 times a year and touch up roots with Superdrug's Effects, this product is great for tinting grey hair if you use every wash and leave on for a few minutes.

My most recent permanent dye has started to lighten within a couple of weeks. But on this occasion I'm relieved as it came out too dark to start with!
