End of week togs - what have we worn?

My theory is that we slip into either favourites or barrel scraping slob clothes on a Friday!

I'm the former so got my favourite knee length boots, luxury opaques, thank you m and s, and jersey midi dress on. This evening (in) might put my favourite dotty p jeans on.

Uphold or test my theory girls!

Had an white AA dress and dark blue Zara jumper on, then a shower, now Gap man joggers and a Threadless top with a dreamy looking woman on it, feels weird wearing a face on my chest. Does anyone else like Threadless btw?

I have on an apricot digital floral print dress with tucks from Maje. Over it I have a pale blue cardigan from Uniqlo and pale matte gold loafers from Miu Miu- my nun going out shoes as DH calls them!

Mad bag lady outfit.

I tried to get into my Spring/Summer stuff this week. Shaved my legs, fake tanned, had a pedicure. Wore some pretty new jersey dresses with nude wedge sandals Mon-Thurs. BUT...gave in to the increasingly cold weather today and back to my familiar wintery stuff Grin:

Over the knee black leather boots (bought last year from Boohoo.com - easily my best purchase from AW13)
Thick black tights from Tesco
Black/yellow/brown patterned mini dress (ancient, from River Island about 5 years ago, but always get compliments on it)
Cropped black cardi from Primani

I much prefer winter clothes, tbh. Ho hum.

Zara Breton top
Kurt Geiger 'Laurel' leopard slip on trainers
Grey Mint Velvet biker style jacket
Camo/neon print scarf from Gap

Today - work and then out for a drink, cinema and meal:

Whistles split midi tube skirt
Opaques
Heeled ankle boots - Aldo
nude and black lace top - Autograph M&S
black jersey biker jacket - Whistles

Sounds dressy-ish, I guess, but the skirt has an elasticated waist and the jacket is v comfortable.

Boots
Top
Jacket

Thebuskersdog large sizing, size at least one size down. I'm an 8 so got a S could've gone XS easily.

Friday is dress-down day at work, so it's an odd one; I am glad to get into casual clothes after a week of dressing corporate, but I still have to wear something vaguely decent. Today I wore:

Grey/blue/purple print silk shirt, Gerard Darel, via charity shop
Boyfriend jeans, M&S Indigo
Pewter ballet pumps, Clarks

Well here is last nights going out - outfit. We went for a late night meal at a Portugese cafe-bar. I dressed up although only the jacket was new. I am shopping mainly in my closet because there is nothing that designers do now that I haven't already got either a version of or this seasons colour. That is why shopping at sample sales, the O/N and at small online boutiques/designers saves in the long run as with good care and repair, clothes can last decades. Buy stuff that is either in this seasons colour or this seasons style but never both together in you want it to have longevity. By the time you hit your mid thirties, you'll have built up a great trans seasonal long term closet. Anyway lecture over- here's the rub-

Helmut Lang cigarette pants in darkest grey summer weight wool. Dates back to the late 90's when this cut started to make waves, replacing the boot cut which since Gucci's velvet versions hit the catwalk, reigned supreme.

Several seasons old Pale tangerine racer back skinny vest in a coated metallic cotton from Heimstone (one of my favourite labels).

H&M cut away blazer in a navy and white cire print.

Dark Grey flat strap sandals from Marni (five years old and bought for $70!)

Mignonette your approach is exactly the same as mine. I keep things for yonks! It only ever takes me adding one or two new things to make a whole loads of outfits as I have so much built up

Name

I have a pair of lilac Nubuck Kickers that I saved for aged eleven/twelve (can't recall exactly how old). They are now about 36 years old and I do wear them sometimes!

I love being able to hunt out one item and by wearing it, update my look. Something as simple as an apricot T shirt or pair of pastel pumps can alter an outfit without spending loads. It is difficult to save up for investment items if you need, say, a jacket NOW but saving the £££ until the next Outnet sale/sample sale/auction (Kerry Taylor Auctions sell amazing stuff for often very little) can enable you to very slowly build up a stock closet. And not all well made, long lasting items are designer.

People think Kerry Taylor prices are always going to be out of reach and are pleasantly surprised.

Some of the best T shirts I have are from New Look. They do some in a thicker cotton (slightly brushed on the inside) that have lasted me six years. Not white- they need replacing regularly but darker shades and some prints.
