Help - accessories for my outfit for daughters first communion

Hi ladies
This occasion is on 10 may. Please help... I've overspent on my daughter s outfit so I want to use something I already have. I'm 39 , size 6/8 and Breastfeeding a toddler. I've gone through my wardrobe and have decided on the following
Navy classic dress with silver buttons, knee length and short sleeves- six yrs old (quite structured and can be quite understatedly glamorous I think)
Fuschia suede courts (pointed toe and stiletto heel ) from Nine West bought last yr for a wedding

Should I wear leg wear and if so, what?
Are pashminas v dated? Would a fuschia one which I have look silly?
Would fuschia nails be nice or silly?
Would I better ditching the fuschia heels and purchasing kate -esq nude courts?
What kind and colour bag would go with the shoes, dress and silver buttons? Thinking clutch...( But I only have a burnished gold one)
Last q... Should I buy a classic mac for over it instead of pashmina (10 may in Ireland could be chilly!)
I want to look stylish and understated and glamorous and a tiny bit sexy if that is poss!

Thanks so much ...
A tired looking mum

You want to look sexy at your daughter's first holy communion???

It's a communion, not a bloody date! And more to the point it's your daughter's. Don't embarrass her. Dress mac and shoes that aren't hooker shoes, you'll be fine.

Ach, don't be nasty! I think the outfit you have sounds nice- I wouldn't do a pashmina though- I think more for a wedding. I would wear a wee jacket. Neither would I do the nails- go for nude nails- cheaper than new nude shoes. Enjoy the day

Agree with Spinaroo, particularly re jacket vs pashmina. I'd be mildly tempted to go for a clashing bright for the nails - orange or turquoise - but I think others would rightly advise against. Avoid nude courts like plague. It may be your daughter's first communion but you still don't want to look as though you've given up.
Leg wear: yes, unless you don't mind being freezing. Many will disagree, but given the outfit I would suggest a nude tight that looks invisible on your skintone. Or pale grey. Can you splash out on a little silver envelope clutch? There are lots around that don't cost the earth.

A bit mean onesleep but sound advice nevertheless. It is your child's day and even slightly sexy would be wholly inappropriate. Understated respectability should be your dress code.

I don't think she means sexy as in full-on hooker sexy, I think she means not complete middle-aged frump person. Which I entirely endorse.

I did all this last year and whilst still looking lovely and glamorous most of the mums were very much under-stated. I would wear the fuschia heels but wear a jacket and nude nails. From where I was looking nobody was doing sexy!

Just to clarify I hardly ever get to go out with my husband due to our work and childminding duties and lack of a babysitter where we live in the countryside.....so I would like him to find me attractive on the day :) I didnt think suede courts of any colour would be in any way hookerish myself. My dress is ultra conservative hence I want to go slightly more glam for footwear. Thanks for advice re pashmina yes they are a bit weddingy alright. And a nice neutral manicure would defo be cheaper than new shoes - good thinking!.... So stick with shoes, neutral mani ... Maybe a mac as dress neckline would not suit a blazer.... Would you go for skin colour tights, a good fake tan job or something else? Any ideas for a bag with this combo?? . Thanks ladies xx

Motherbluestocking just seeing your suggestion for legs and silver clutch..... Yes you are dead right.... Both would be lovely.... And fake tan with the heels might be venturing into hooker territory :)
