Help please! All I want is a cotton sundress!

Going to Italy in June and whilst there I'll be attending an outdoor sporting event.. I'd like to look classy and glam but not overdone.. In my mind I'd like a nice cotton sundress, fairly fitted, to the knee and either strapless or thin straps... I'd like this in black, cream, or white, possibly navy.. But would consider other colours..

But can I find this? Can I hell... Everything I see is polyester, and the thought of walking about in the heat with that sticking to me does not appeal.. I'm 5'9", size 10ish, 41 but a young dresser and don't do frumpy..

Has anyone seen anything that might fit the bill? TIA thanks

If you wait another month or so, you'll have a better range to choose from. Most of the shops are still in early Spring mode, with the summery stuff yet to come in

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 12:19:32

Thanks namechange smile - you're right there will be more then.. But there is already a lot of summer stuff online and next to nothing in natural fibres..

Yes - bizarrely in sainsburys? Plain cotton dresses, fitted and to the knee. In various colours - the black and cream caught my eye.

Ooh thanks mygoldfish - I'll have a look online grin

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 12:48:21

Ah they're not online sad

No, goodness knows why not, I've had some great adult and children's clothes from Sainsbury's, but my local store's selection isn't very good.

Thudercatsrule Thu 13-Mar-14 12:58:13

Next have just their summer clothes and they have some nice things.

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 13:03:21

Thanks thudercats but I had a look and it was basically all polyester which I will wear here but don't want to wear in Italy in June - it'd be sticking to me..

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 13:18:06

Thanks tinier - I prefer the second to the first as it's more fitted.. Probs would prefer a bit strappier though but def similar to what I'm looking for.. smile

tinierclanger Thu 13-Mar-14 13:35:57

Ooh thank you tinier grin Not keen on first, really liked second but too young for me.. Liked third but not quite right, LOVE last one smile but sad think it's just a bit short... Only a couple of inches.. Damn. It's perfect otherwise..

Have you tried Nomads Clothing?

Usually cotton or silk - and a good choice of pretty dresses at this. I like the vintage styles (they have others too). Fairtrade as well, the owners are v.keen on that grin.

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 14:51:44

Thanks for the link karen but not really my style unfortunately..

Technical Thu 13-Mar-14 15:08:40

Doesn't fit the brief and I don't generally get Boden at all but I love this cotton dress

HappyGirlNow Thu 13-Mar-14 15:15:26

Thanks Technical - cute but not my thing unfortunately..

Next one on eBay, if you're 10 or 12- might be the place to look in general with filters?

LaTrucha Thu 13-Mar-14 16:38:27

I saw a couple of lovely ones from Monsoon in this month's Glamour magazine but they are not online yet.

missisboot Thu 13-Mar-14 16:40:23

Brandalley have some summer stuff on there - might be worth a look?

WowOoo Thu 13-Mar-14 18:27:26

I saw some in Seasalt today. They are 100% cotton. Looked nicer than they do on the website. I was very tempted to get one.
