Maternity outfit for wedding at 39weeks pregnant?

KillashandraRee · 09/03/2014 21:08

I'm a curvy 5'3", this is my second pregnancy. I'm due ten days after a family wedding and am already feeling huge at 29wks so am starting to panic about what I will look like come May. I had the Sienna dress in dusk from tiffany rose last pregnancy but my shape is different this time (carrying more all round rather than just bump at front) so it's too clingy for me. Any suggestions for outfits that won't make me look like a short beach ball greatly appreciated. Smile

I had a nice one from Seraphine which I wore to a wedding at 38 weeks - the navy blue version of this www.seraphine.com/knot-front-cap-sleeved-dress-pink.html. It was really flattering even though I felt enormous, and not super long on me (I'm 5'2").

Otherwise, if you don't want to buy something really, could you hire one? Hire Expectations have some lovely dresses, they send a couple of different sizes and you just post it back afterwards - www.hireexpectations.co.uk

If the link doesn't work it's a ASOS maternity dress on EBay.
I also had occasion dresses from Mama and Papas ( a lace skater style) and Gap ( a summery floral A-line style).

I have the none mat version of that tethers, it is a great dress and could be revived after the bump has bumped

Thanks all. I like the second one tethers hadn't looked on asos.

Haven't seen anything I like on tiffany ride except one at nearly £300 which is too much.

Did see this one on seraphine (thanks for link didn't know about their website) do you think it's too mumsy? www.seraphine.com/polka-dot-dress.html

I think that dress is lovely.

I agree Seraphine - love both the pink amd the polka dot dress. They also have a few lovely maxi dresses on there.

Do you think being short a maxi dress might make me look as short as I am wide? Do like maxi dresses but worry about proportions...?

I don't think many people can pull off a maxi dress Kill so agree with your concerns.

Yeah, I'd steer clear of a maxi dress too, though you're taller than me so might be able to pull it off! Something just above the knee would be better.

Second vote for that first seraphine knot dress. I am 5 ft 3 and had it in navy (the new green is stunning though) and wore it to death, so comfortable and still felt glamorous in it because it drapes so nicely.

Im also pregnant and when I went to a recent wedding I wore this long column dress,

www.net-a-porter.com/product/410881

and just went the next size up I didnt look 'pregnant' it was very chic for a wedding. Something like that would be best I think.

Thanks puddles but I think £4100 is a little out of my price range Blush

Grin Jean

I think I might order the tie dress in green. At least at under £50 I won't feel too guilty when I only wear it once!

I know it's not the most exciting in the world, but I just wore this eBay cheapie to a wedding at 35 weeks pregnant (and I have the biggest bump in the world atm). I dressed it up with pashmina, heels, nice necklace, red lipstick etc, and didn't feel out of place. It wasn't the most formal wedding ever, but lots of people in standard wedding attire. I think people are quite forgiving if you are hugely pregnant!

No Foxsticks I was a guest at a wedding. The dress apparently can be worn by brides though. I can assure you I didn't upstage the bride.

Oh no KillashandraRee I just thought you might like that style and if you didn't want to spend that amount on a dress you could find something similar.

I was going to say the same as Hebburn, I wouldn't go mad spending either, in your position given that you'll get very little (if any) wear out of it.

Or get one that allows feeding access too (only if you plan to of course) so it can do before or after if required?

I will be breastfeeding and wondered about a dress that I could do that with as well (in case baby makes an early appearance!)
