Ok,here goes

I hate conspicuous branding, that whole LV, mulberry, thing.if it needs copious branding it poor product

A quality well made product should look good, quality leather, well made
Ugg boots, aesthetically vile, but much loved by wags and school run mums
It's the look, bulky shape and support it's all wrong

Clothing with words, brand on.again too conspicuous. A hoody doesn't need to say anything

Abercrombie and Fitch, ordinary items pitched as being desireable, and overpriced

Chanel padded bags, for grannies and Paris Hilton

Zara and h&m - can never find anything I like, and if I do it looks like a rag after one wash.

Radley bags. The little dog is so twee and the bags are dull.
White Stuff (women's range). It looks like it's designed for a hippy's 5 y.o.
Boden. Snore.
Cos. Nothing looks good on normal people, only on waifs.
Woolover. Nanna.
White Company. SO overpriced.

Cos -shapeless stuff

Report

Uggs- fugly
Clarks-sensible shoes
Cos- shapeless
Boden, white stuff- Mum wear
White company- over priced Mum wear
Zara- poor quality
Reiss- polyester office wear
Next- I've given up trying wear
Debenhams designer ranges/ marks and spencer- frumpy with a dash of sequin
Phase Eight- Daytime TV presenter wear

I'm not a massive fan of the high street! Occasionally when I do buy from there I usually end up very disappointed. However, I probaby have the odd thing from all those shops in my wardrobe...apart from Clarks...

Louis Vuitton - my mom paid through the nose for a bag that was practically made out of plastic and started looking terrible six months in.

Cos - I just don't understand it.

Abercrombie, after the owner said he aimed to appeal to 'thin and beautiful' customers only.

Zara

the stuff is nice on the hanger, but does not favour a very tall, pear shaped body

I appreciate this is more a problem with the wearer than the clothes.

I totally agree with the branding comments. I can't abide clothes that have a slogan or brand name plastered on it.

Isabel Marant - love it on models, on me it's awful.
LV - couldn't imagine owning any. Just not into it.
Anything 'slouchy' - just totally wrong for my body type.
Most scarves - I like clean lines in outfits.

Really like Cos and Chanel though Wink

Glad it's not just me who dislikes Cos.
I spent an hour trying things on there but I just didn't like anything. I am very tall and slim and felt everything stuck out at weird angles.

I echo manyupthread..
White stuff
Fat face
Zara....if you have tits you are stuffed

Paul's Boutique..only to be worn if you are orange with Scouse brow. Truly vile

callmekitten · 09/03/2014 15:41

Completely agree about obvious branding.

Giant, slouchy handbags. I don't need to carry my entire house with me everywhere I go. And I just think the slouchyness looks sloppy. I prefer a bag that is on the smallish side of medium, with some shape/structure to it.

Superdry - superchav - for teens.twunties
Pauls Boutique - looks like someone trampled through hobby craft with a glue stick and did some amatuer customisation

I would defend Clarks for everyday shoes and boots actually. But not for dressed up or ban on trend stuff - fair enuff
Just dont get boden - mostly seems boring

I think it depends on what age you are, what your clothing needs are in relation to your lifestyle

I like fat face
Quality items speak themselves, I agree they dont need 'look at me' logos all over them. Havign said that I've foudn clothes to be a bit of a crutch recently.

I have never seen anything I've liked in the Toast catalogue, but it is much loved as a brand on here it seems. Not my style at all. But then, I am very unfashionable...!

Cos - shapeless drab sacks.

AllSaints - everything is the colour of sludge.

Boden - the frumpiest clothes ever.

Fat Face/White Stuff - Second to Boden in the frump stakes. Home of the utterly style free mummy uniform.

Karen Millen - highly flammable WAG wear.

TK Maxx - I just can't with that shop. It's like a car boot with a roof.

Those horrible sleeping bag coats that everyone on here seems to love.

Barbour jackets.

YY to (F)Uggs, Radley, LV, Superdry, Zara, anything branded.

Where do you shop eyeliner out of interest?

Report
rookiemater · 09/03/2014 16:16

I don't mind Boden per se, but I feel a bit shuddery when I see grown women dressed in their "fun" patterned macs, it's all a bit "look at me I've got Boden on".

Likewise Cath Kidson bags or anything Cath Kidson related.

Anyone over the age of 25 wearing branded youth designer wear i.e. Abercrombie & Fitch. Fair enough to be a fashion victim as a teen, it's practically a rite of passage, but grown ups should know better.

I don't dislike Karen Millen as such, but don't bother shopping there as it all seems very statementy, but a friend seems to pick up some lovely separates there, so I might not be looking hard enough.

Oh and don't like anywhere with proper old-school sizing. I'm happy imagining that I am a size 12-14 just like I was 20 years ( and a stone and a bit ago) so no to Zara and H&M as I'd rather not be XXL or size 16 thanks very much.

Joules is awful especially the quilted jackets with the floral lining and the fun spotty/striped wellies with bows.
Fat Face/White stuff with it's obvious ditsy prints and horrendous pastel colours.

Zara - poor quality and looks like a jumble sale.

Phase Eight - poor quality, expensive and middle-aged (I am middle aged but that doesn't mean I want to wear polyester floral dresses with 'tummy flattering ruching.'

Next - I have given up even looking in there.

Fat Face - clothes for adults who want to look like toddlers.

Mantaray at Debenhams - really horrible colours - In fact, most stuff in Debenhams is horrible.

Report
Saurus72 · 09/03/2014 16:47

Zara, Designers at Debenhams, Wallis, Phase eight, Planet, Next, Marks & Soencer: polyester monstrosities, too scarily flammable to touch let alone wear.

White Stuff, Fat Face: floppy, style-free zones

LK Bennett, Reiss: sloane-tastic and poor quality.

Thinking101 - a great description of Paul's Boutique.
I hate it's tackiness.
Some LV
Orla Kiely -those awful sludgy colours
in that awful print.
A lot of designer handbags ( particularly ones with fringing or tassels)

So help me out, I'm nearly 40 and I usually covet fatface coats and sweats, I have joules stuff.

Am I getting it all wrong, where should I be shopping and I'm larger and cruvie too does that mean I shouldnt bother with rucking? from phase eight - I have two dresses from their.

I feel so lost. I;m really down at the moments, and my clothes and and bit of make-up are propping me up at the moment. Am I a frump visually too for my age.
