Do white Converse look manky after a few wears?

Bought some white Converse-alikes in Next two weeks ago. I haven't been anywhere particularly disgusting but they look awful, to the point where they're too filthy to wear. Is this because they're cheapies or because that's what white shoes do?

I'll stick them in the wash but don't know if they will hold up although I know real ones do. Is it worth shelling out for real ones?

I've got white converse high tops and low ones and both pure white but I don't wear them if it's raining or to watch sons playing football etc

With DS white ones and they have been minging I get a cup of bleachy water and a bar of vanish soap and scrub them with an old toothbrush before washing them and they have always come up well

DD has the proper ones and I just chuck them in the washing machine. Always come out looking like new. She even wore them to a particularly muddy festival last year, quick wash and as good as new again. So in answer to the question, yes it is probably better to buy the real thing, I have the Primarni fakes and they are fine, but don't wear them often.

They do get grubby quite quickly so the last two pairs I bought I paid extra and bought the white leather converse, exactly the same style and fit. They don't attract the same amount of dust and when they do get grubby I wipe them with a baby wipe!

My dp bought me white converse, I swapped them for bright orange ones as white would be a nightmare!
