Is it because it's made in the UK? No idea otherwise.

Sprinkled with pixie dust is my guess.

Vickiyumyum Wed 26-Feb-14 14:41:00

Its the made in Britain bit. supposed to be craftsman ship etc rather than mass produced.

I meant in terms of their usual products. Thanks for the sarcasm.

HelloBoys Wed 26-Feb-14 15:08:41

fool and money soon parted I think M&S and their shareholders/design team are thinking.

I'd pay this much for a coat from M&S if I thought that it was stylish and if the fabric was good. I'd also pay a premium for British manufacture.

It's Karen Millen/Jigsaw/Reiss prices. This particular coat is OK but not really my style. However, I wouldn't balk at paying top end high street prices for something from M&S. The Autograph range started out at this sort of price point when it launched, and the clothes were good. It's gone downhill since. I'm pleased to see M&S trying to up their game a bit with a premium collection.

It will be better quality than their regular range.

Yes because it British made. Is it expensive for a marks cotton/poly coat. having said all that I really like it smile

Allthingsprettyreturns Wed 26-Feb-14 17:23:09

It would probably be cheaper to search the charity shops for a voat from m and s when they primarily manufactured in the UK

I do like a cocoon coat myself but not this one, I think it's the fabric.

No - in the sales, you can get proper wool and cashmere coats from more desirable stores for that price.

niminypiminy Wed 26-Feb-14 20:12:56

It's the same style as this by Jaeger. If a comparable quality I would say very well worth the price.

bunnymother Wed 26-Feb-14 20:16:28

Here's a better quality version, the HOBBS Amara. It's so lovely and thick in real life, as well as being cotton: www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0114-3075-9083L00&productvarid=0114-3075-9083L00-BLACK%20IVORY-8&refpage=search/results

ok, I supported the coat. Quite like it infact BUT would you pay £349 for a marks and spencer bag shock

sorry can't link from my phone.

FoxyHarlow123 Wed 26-Feb-14 20:57:30

Bunny, the Hobbs coat is much nicer.

bunnymother Wed 26-Feb-14 21:41:11

The Hobbs coat is very nice in real life, Foxy. I saw a photo of Giovanna Battalgia (the Italian stylist) wearing either it or, more likely, a very similar designer piece.

Allthingsprettyreturns Wed 26-Feb-14 21:41:25

That bag is ugly
