If you're generally well turned out how often do you change your clothes?

Or do you wear your good clothes to do messy jobs?

e.g. I wore my good casual clothes for the school run (walk) this morning. Nothing fancy, just jeans but ones I'd rather not ruin. When I got home I put joggers on to do some housework and now I want to go and do some gardening which means changing again in to my gardening clothes. Is it just me? Would you wear your jeans to do the housework (and risk bleach down them) and for the garden (and get muddy patches on the knees)?

Also, if you're well turned out when you leave the house, how scruffy are you indoors? Do you dress differently to do housework in an empty house than to sit on the sofa with DH?

eh? you worry too much! I only wear 'good clothes' if i'm going out for the day. all other clothes are fine for school runs, housework, shopping etc. Gardening I agree requires different clothes. I have far too much washing as it is without changing so many times

DH would rather I was naked anyway, so I doubt it matters much what I wear when he's home of an evening

Its OK, I am with you OP! We live in the country with dogs and my day to day life includes a lot of mud, hair and cleaning products. So generally at home during school hours when walking dogs, housework, gardening, putting fences back up, or whatever, i wear old jeans, t shirt and fleece and either wellies or slippers. But then I HAVE to change into something nice whether I go out or stay in. It marks that i have finished. Talking of which, need to get back to hoovering ...
But yes, I do seem to spend a lot of time changing some days

I just wear whatever I am wearing that day. If I put a dress on then I walk the dog in it, do the housework, shopping, even the gardening! I have never ruined anything by getting bleach on it. I get muddy sometimes but that washes off.

I pretty much live in 3 sets of clothes. I have really scruffy stuff for wearing to the stables, work clothes, and some reasonable jeans for the school run or if I go anywhere else. I spend most of my time dressed for the stables, so it doesn't matter if I get bleach, mud or anything else on them. I usually change just before the school run, then often back to scruffy again after. Sometimes when I am really pushed for time I do the school run in the scruffy stuff, but I try and keep away from anyone in case I smell too badly of horse. Poor old DH certainly doesn't rate a separate change of clothes though. He has to put up with me however I happen to be dressed.

I change if I'm doing something particularly messy or involving bleach, but mainly my cleaning is non existent not terribly intensive anyway, so i don't need to change for it. I have a routine of cleaning the kitchen in the morning before I get dressed, and I wipe down the bathroom after a shower etc. Saves time during the day! And I loathe gardening.

I don't change for cleaning but wear maybe jeans/leggings.

I wear everyday stuff to work (smart casual) and often same leggings to work as on weekends. same with boots etc.

the only stuff I won't wear to work is Converse and other trainers, scruffier boots etc.

I do have slobby Gap joggers for inside...

I usually change out of 'outdoor' clothes as soon as I get home. It's not out of fear that I'll get them messy, but more for comfort - it's comfy joggers or PJ trousers at home for me, I find jeans too restrictive when I'm relaxing. Used to have to change out of uniform when I got home from school so this is like an extension of that! My every day stuff isn't even that smart, often jeans or leggings. But they tend to stay in good condition and I don't have to wash them as often either, which makes them last longer.

I'm with you op! I have cleaning clothes, then just running errands clothes, then nice clothes for going out, and pjs at night. So sometimes 4 changes a day

I usually put an old top and sweats once a week when I'm doing a big clean e.g bathrooms, kitchen and hoovering stairs etc but I don't change for day to day housework. I don't do gardening as I hate it. Everything else gets worn as normal (although I do have going out clothes). Dh normally gets home to find me in my pjs!

I'm with you as well OP. Velour bottoms and old top for pottering around doing jobs then I will get changed in to my best jeans and a decent top for going out shopping or meeting friends around lunchtime.

Later I will change to older jeans for dog walking as I don't want to ruin the good ones and also have a bit of a shorter length jean for dog walking as I wear trainers.

Do sometimes get fed up of changing though!

I am about to change into third outfit of the day.

Scruffs for school run (I don't get out of the car), shower and smart work clothes, just got in will change into smartish jeans or leggings as BF is coming round tonight.

I'm with you Breakage. Clothes for school run/shop then change to housework clothes, change to shop clothes if I have to go out in public again. Shower and PJ's by 9.00pm :)

Another one here with different clothes. I have joggers for lounging at home and smart-casual jeans for going out. I do have two pre-schoolers so I am likely to get covered in snot/food/any other substance which is why I have gotten into this habit.

I'm with you OP, I see little point in risking my 'good' clothes to contact with bleach or anything else that will damage them - so have scruffs for wearing when doing housework or gardening, smart casual for school run and then going out clothes/work clothes. Better to change several times a day than wreck a favourite item of clothing!

Housework / DIY/ gardening can ruin clothes. I have ruined clothes. Oops! Not again. You could have worn the same clothes though for housework and gardening?

If I'm staying in and not leaving the house again when all the house jobs are done, I tend to change into PJs in the evening and stay in them. No point in lounging around in good clothes. At the weekend I find it's different, and I do wear normal clothes then :D

So my typical clothes day looks like this: PJs > Smart/Casual work clothes > Sportswear > Cleaning/painting clothes >PJs . Obviously if I see friends after a fitness class then I squeeze into some jeans and a nice top inbetween (after a shower!).
