Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm - alternative?

ADoorMe · 23/02/2014 15:23

Been using this for about a year and my skin is certainly better than it was, but that may also be due to better diet, less stress etc.

I do like the Emma Hardie balm, but its pricey and now funds are limited I'd like to try a cheaper alternative, but don't want to undo all the good work.

By the way I'm 50ish - skin is normalish, bit wrinkly.

Suggestions anyone?

Clinique take the day off balm - 21 and better than Hardie or Lom in my opinion

I second the recommendation for Boots Botanics one i love the Emma Hardie one, but my budget is more boots.

Champneys also sell one in Boots but it feels strange and grainy

Do you use a hot cloth with these?

I use flannels as per Caroline Hirons - cheaper and just as good.

Yes, use flannels as per Caroline Hirons, too.

Eve Lom cleansing balm is wonderful or as the previous poster has said Clinique take the day off balm is a good cheaper alternative. Why not go to Space Nk or a department store and ask for some samples?

The body shop chamomile one is really good, I second that. I also like the clarins melting cleanser which is cheaper than EH and smells nice.

Does it have to be a balm? Superdrug hot cloth cleanser is fabulous. 2 types. Radiance and Vitamin E. Under £5 a tube usually but currently half price. Getting great reviews on here and has replaced liz Earle cleanse and polish for me.

I love Emma Hardie too, but I started using L'oreal's 15 second cleansing miracle oil, which is usual price £7.99 I think but is in the 3 for 2 offer at Boots. I also like the Superdrug Vitamin E cleanser. These are very cheap and effective, but they are not as luxurious to use.

Just a word of caution on the Clinique one if you're at all prone to acne. It broke me out almost instantly. I used it in the same way I use the EH one, with hot flannel etc but it didn't have a great effect. I know Caroline H says it's fine for acne prone skin but if you read the comments under her post about it, there are lots of people disagreeing.

Shame, as otherwise it would be an ok alternative. I love the EH balm but it's getting a bit £££ to keep it up.

Here's another Caroline Hirons recommendation for a cleansing balm. www.carolinehirons.com/2014/01/merumaya-launches-on-qvc-today.html
I can vouch for the cream or gel La Roche Posay Physiological cleansers. They're a bit boring but they do the job without the risk of breakouts.
