DD is after a 1950's style Prom dress - where from?

We've looked at Vivien of Holloway but I'm not sure the sizes will fit as she is quite tiny

So, are there alternatives?

there's another similar website, on the tip of my tongue, back in a mo while I flex my google-fuu

DOlly Dagger but start from a size 8

What size and height is she Katie? I think VoH come start quite small. THere are also some beautiful ones at courtesan botique, they start at a size 4 but will make to order too.

love this one

Unique vintage

I might still have to alter an 8 I think - but I like the Bettie dresses more than the Damsel ones......

Well actually I prefer the damsel ones but I know DD won't wink I'll book mark it for me thanks

She is 5 ft 3 & a 26E (if they made them) quite tiny for a fitted bodice - I think her waist might be about 23 inches

TheGonnagle Thu 20-Feb-14 20:49:45

Vivien of Holloway will custom fit if you go down and see them I think.

MrsLettuce Thu 20-Feb-14 20:50:02

Ah, right. VoH sart at a 10 but that's a vintage 10 - the measurements given translate to somewhere between a 6 and an 8 when compared with modern size charts.

I adore this

lady v london are great....not sure how small they go size wise, but great dresses and v reasonably priced.

MrsLettuce Thu 20-Feb-14 20:56:35

this is such a bargain and very pretty indeed.

Try amazon. I got a 1950s style dress off there.

The best ones IMO are They will make to fit. The quality of them is lovely, they're worth every penny of the cost - not remotely comparable to the Vivien of Holloway ones (which look really nice, I like them, but the quality of Whirling Turban is far far better - which is why they cost more).

KatyMac Thu 20-Feb-14 21:15:49

Not her colour MrsLettuce but thanks

We'll have a bit of a look and play with what looks good

This with a petticoat underneath?

This comes in a 6

If you give it another month or two, Topshop, Warehouse etc will have loads.

TheGonnagle Thu 20-Feb-14 21:42:56

Oh good lord whirling turban- exactly what I want! They are lovely…….

emsyj Thu 20-Feb-14 21:46:37

They really are TheGonnagle - I want more, but need to shift some weight first. I would highly recommend them.

Another vote for Lady Vintage - but their waists are tiny so unless she's an hourglass figure you'd need to alter the bustline.

I measured her she is 32,23,36 so I think a Vivien of Holloway would actually fit her

I've bought stuff from Tigermilly before. Some a bit more goth-y than 1950s but there's a big range.
