...and help you feel a little better about yourself tomorrow?

Following on from the threads recently about people feeling frumpy/out-of-sorts/old/not as good as they could be, let's do something active and do one small thing tomorrow that could help us feel better and brighter!

I'm going to paint my toenails tomorrow, they look hideous over winter!

Over to you smile

I bought some cotton gloves ( PoundShop bargain) so tomorrow I plan to file my nails and lard on some heavy duty hand cream, overnight.

These are great ideas! We'll be fabulous in no time grin

FrugalFashionista Wed 19-Feb-14 21:05:35

My cuticles look shocking, so oiling them and slathering on some hand cream tonight.

Need to do something about toenails too but probably not until Saturday!

passata Wed 19-Feb-14 21:08:05

frugal I have just oiled my raggedy cuticles too!

blush 2 minute job - why do I only do it every few months? From now on I'll do it daily until they look the way they deserve to smile

Mrswellyboot Wed 19-Feb-14 21:16:27

Putting a good colour mask on. I am going to do this.

Using tanning wipes (they are fairly light, not too OTT grin ) over face, back and arms every other evening

Blusher - it makes a massive difference to my, 'pale and interesting' face. smile

teenybash7 Wed 19-Feb-14 22:36:24

What do you use to oil your cuticles? I've tried a few and they don't seem to make much difference - help, please!

passata Thu 20-Feb-14 09:18:52

teeny I'm currently using a Leighton Denny oil but it doesn't matter what it is. Olive oil from the cupboard is just as good. Avoplex was too gloopy for me, I didn't like the texture (avocado oil I think).

As long as it moisturises my cuticles it can even be Vaseline. I think the key is little and often. Once a week isn't enough for me. I should do it every night blush

teenybash7 Thu 20-Feb-14 11:59:41

Thanks passata - I'll go and look in the kitchen then!

A good brisk walk (or, even better, a run) - makes skin absolutely glow

FrugalFashionista Thu 20-Feb-14 17:20:06

Going to do a brisk walk now and put one some foot cream in the evening.

No special oil necessary for cuticles, even olive oil will do, I used Eucerin Aquaphor salve last night because I have that on my nightstand. Made a big difference so might even go OTT and repeat the hand cream tonight...

Passata thanks for this thread, great idea...

For cuticles, I've always stuck a pin in a vitamin e capsule and squirted (the ones near the vitamins in supermarkets)

Tonight I will have a go at my eyebrows

passata Thu 20-Feb-14 17:30:05

Oh this is excellent! Thanks for joining in smile

Toenails are painted and bottle of cuticle oil is next to my bed.

Is anyone else doing 'one simple thing' today to make themselves feel a smidge better?

AnaisB Thu 20-Feb-14 18:42:54

OK, I will iron my clothes for tomorrow.

(I've not done this for years but the other threads have convinced me.)

sugar4eva Thu 20-Feb-14 18:49:38

Please can you tell me how to look after cuticles ? Is it just oil or do they need actually cutting to trim and keep neat? Have always wanted to ask but never got round to it!

mrspolkadotty Thu 20-Feb-14 18:57:22

mrswellyboot can I ask which tanning wipes you use? Never been any good with tanning products but I look alive a million times better with a subtle glow.

littleredsquirrel Thu 20-Feb-14 18:59:29

I'm going to do an egg yolk protein hair mask this evening whilst I sit in front of the tv

PoorOldCat Thu 20-Feb-14 19:05:01

I don't have a lot of time and sometimes my hair is a bit shocking - but just putting it up at the back in a twisty sort of bun, with a clip, makes me feel like I am almost respectable.

And no one notices quite how much it needs a wash.

I agree with blusher too - just a powder so you don't have to spend hours removing it at night, because it's fallen off - but it makes a hell of a difference when you are very tired and pale.

I don't 'do' makeup but that's my one concession.

cartoontrickster Thu 20-Feb-14 20:01:05

I must must must do something with these eyebrows --and let's not even mention the bikiniline--blush

Bonsoir Thu 20-Feb-14 21:19:46

Hand cream just before you turn off your bedside light.

NumptyNu Thu 20-Feb-14 22:18:19

A dab of Vaseline around wrinkly part of eyes before bed. Does wonders to smooth them out.

passata Fri 21-Feb-14 16:10:29

Cuticle care - soak to soften then push back with a fingernail or wooden hoof stick. (I use a metal hoof stick but that's because I'm comfortable with it) Oil regularly and they shouldn't need trimming - mainly because they grow back thicker if you do.
