New foundation recommendations?

I need a new foundation, I've been using Clinique Moisture Surge for a couple of years but I think I need a change, I want something that's quite light and dewy finish, my skin is fairly normal/combination (greasy on my nose sometimes, dry on my chin!)

I'm 35, if that helps, I'll spend 25 - 35 ish, any recommendations? :)

MAC's Face and Body is light but can be built up so it's a good all rounder. It's fab and what I usually carry in my kit.

I really like the Soap and Glory one - much better than the Clinique one I used to buy, and half the price.

Highly recommend both the YSL touche éclat and NARS Sheer Glow foundations.

Head to a department store and ask for them to colour match and give you a sample to use at home. I've done this the last few times and it's saved me buying foundation only to find I don't like how it wears off, or the colour outside etc. The YSL sample pots usually last a week so you can really tell if you like it and would use it.

Antoinette - are you a makeup artist ? I've always been intrigued by Mac Face and Body, never, ever got on with any of their other foundations though, too heavy or oxidised on my skin. I'm almost 40, have some line, also some spots (I'm actually quite attractive - honest !) and have oily skin. Would this be any good for me do you think ? I need something that's quite longlasting...

i also love mac face and body foundation, i have a few slightly different shades that i can blend in so looks natural

I am, though a part time one at the mo! It's very light and has quite an odd texture for a foundation-it's very watery and sheer but the more you work with it the more it builds up. That means you can use it with your fingers and get an effect like a v light tinted moisturiser, but then use a brush on certain spots and work it into the skin to get heavier coverage just where you want it. It's really quite ingenious! It gives a very dewy effect which is nice but if your skin is quite oily you will prob like to use a powder over the top. A good primer will help it last longer on oily skin too (plus good skin care-it's the skin that makes foundation last rather than the foundation if that makes sense). It photographs well (no flashback) and doesn't oxidise.

MAC have recently started doing smaller, more consumer friendly bottles of it and it's not as pricy as the other high end foundations. I really like it.

You like what in do in a foundation and I have recently hot gold with Bobbi brown skin foundation, it is light, dewy and make my skin look lovely. I would highly recommend given what your requirements are.

Antoinette - thanks very much for that. Will be asking for a sample next time I pass the MAC counter.

I've adapted my skincare as much as I can (I think !) for my oily skin - oil free moisturiser and sunblock, etc but am still not entirely happy with any primer I've found. Currently using the Lanacane anti-chafing gel (dupe for Smashbox I believe) and whilst it helps a bit I don't think it's the best for oily skin. Any recs for a good primer ? (And sorry for hijacking the thread !)

You need to match your primer to your foundation in terms of formulation, so water+water, oil+oil or silicon+silicon. F&B is water based
