Trying to find waterproof warm coat to keep me dry.

Hello, I'm desperately trying to find a warm waterproof insulated coat that will protect me against the wind and rain we are currently experiencing. Think this might be an investment as can't see it getting better in years to come, so I'm not engaging in the brolly wars every time I go out. I had ordered Craghoppers Nariko but they had a problem with stock levels and so order got cancelled with me back to google for more advice. Have any of you lovely ladies got the Merrell Ellenwood? I'm a size 16 so thinking I might have to go for extra large if I want some room inside, but no where near me to go and try. I don't want to order the wrong size and then have the palavar of sending it back. Advice and quick would be very welcome, thank u :-)

I have the North Face arctic parka. I love it. Am a 16/18 with (very) wide hips and the XL fits fine. Got caught in a hailstorm a couple of weeks ago with only a thin top underneath and was toasty warm and dry. The hood stays up and it just feels like being wrapped in a duvet. Pricey, but definitely worth it.

Thank u, I will have a look at that. My wool duffel coat is not doing the job and hood never stays up anyway. Desperate measures needed! :-)

Stick it out for the nariko, debenhams have it for £60 atm. It's great. I'm a 14 with big boobs and bum and it fits really well with room for an additional layer if really cold. Get the 16 and you'll have loads of room. I walk a collie for hours everyday and I have never been cold or wet as it comes to my knees ( shortarese) It's fab Smile

One name: Didrikson
Pricey, but worth it.

I have a Didrikson padded one. I love it and it can cope easily with the steady gale force 8 wind and rain we've sufferers for the last 3 weeks.

Hi Davenotchas, the Nariko is the one that I want but they don't have it anywhere, Debenhams stopped doing it and can't find it on line. Didrikson fans I would love one of those, but bit out of my price range. Thanks all. I'm going to go back on the hunt. X

Hello I think I might have found the Nariko in a cocoa colour which looks gorgeous, what colour do u have? Bit worried about sizing as v top heavy and sometimes have to go for 18 in tops, But 14 in bottoms. So frustrating not to be equally proportioned lol. Is the 16 quite roomy do u think? I'm so hopeless at sending stuff back that I just get stuck with it, so don't want to make this mistake. Although it does say 16 is XL and I'm not soooo big that I would need XXL or hope I'm not Eeek. Thanks x

I have the Nariko and have worn it all winter. It is totally wind and waterproof and has been warm enough in this mild winter for me not to need lots of layers underneath. It is brilliant.

I don't know about sizing as I have the opposite problem of being bottom heavy.
