What hair products do you use with heated rollers?

I've rediscovered my heated rollers as an alternative to straighteners. I usually just roughly dry my (shoulder length) hair and then comb through and put the rollers in but whilst the curls look ok my hair often looks quite dry and dull.

Can anyone recommend a product to use after drying but before rollers that keeps it shiny and smooth and helps to hold the curls?
