I love watching youtube videos, it's my guilty pleasure when I'm in the kitchen and there's naff all on. I like the style and beauty bloggers, but they are all sooooo young and come across a little bit up themselves far cooler than me.

Can anyone suggest any great youtubers, lovely if they are 40ish and relatively normal :)

I didn't even know there were S&B bloggers on YouTube!

I know you said someone in their 40s, but I quite like Punkchyaz (who is early twenties!) but I'm in my mid thirties and like her style/ethos.

I used to love watching a lot of the beauty youtubers.
However as they become successfull it's noticable how much they change to be honest. They nearly all have pr teams behind them now, or some form of management and I would say 90% of the products that they talk about have been sent to them for free and are sponsored. The other 10% they can claim back through tax anyway.
I feel like a lot of them have found that making beauty videos is a great way to be paid for their hobby. Smile whilst pretending to just be an innocent girl sitting on the end of their bed about products they like.
Everytime I think I find a smaller youtuber who isn't on the sellout bandwagon they either decide to go and get a job that isn't youtube, or start doing sponsored videos whilst neglecting to mention the obvious sponsorship. It's frustrating as I actually find it quite calming to watch a few beauty youtubers in the evening.
The ones I generally watch (although these girls are all heavily sponsored nowadays!) are

Essiebutton - (canadian who lives in london) www.youtube.com/user/essiebutton

Lilypebbles - (loves herself though!) www.youtube.com/user/WhatIHeartToday/videos

Ruth Crilly - www.youtube.com/user/AModelRecommends/videos

Icovethee - www.youtube.com/user/icovetthee/videos

Haley Thompson - www.youtube.com/user/SuperSugarbubble/videos

I used to like Pixiwoo and Tanya Burr, but they've gone downhill big style in the last couple of years. Especially Tanya Burr. She's regressed to a 3 year old in order to gain younger viewers and it's been sad to see how calculated her videos have become.

I'd love some links to any youtubers that are more fashion based, as these are mainly beauty with a bit of style thrown in sometimes.
I agree that I'd also love to see some older beauty/style vloggers. I used to watch some but they don't seem to upload much anymore. Will see if I can find them for you though. Smile

I watch more youtubers than I do tv! My favourites are Vivianna does makeup, essie button, miss glamorazzi (american), miss budget beauty, a model recommends. I uses to love fleur de force but she's changed recently, too polished! I do still like Tanya burr. Oh and zoella and sprinkle of glitter. They are all in their twenties and the two I watch nearer my age are pixiwoos and Wayne Goss. I'm still older than both though. There needs to be some older youtubers, definitely.

Teni Panosian (missmaven) because she has exactly my coloring so if it looks good on her it can work for me. What looks stunning on blue or green eyed bloggers doesn't always work on my browns.

Also her mate Sona Gasparian (makeupbysona) for similar reasons.

I used to adore Hollywoodnoir - artistic retro type stuff - but she seems to have disappeared.

Also doughboy411.

I like Wayne Goss. He's funny, knows his stuff and always seems to give honest opinions on products. Also Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge (she has a very soothing, calming voice and presence unlike a lot of the over excitable teeny vloggers!)

I also like Miss Maven, and also Watch a few Asian bloggers as like PP I find it useful to watch tutorials/reviews by someone with similar skin tone/colouring as me.

I love Lisa Eldridge, I watch her on the iPad as I cook dinner, makes the peeling and chopping less tedious. I also like A Model Recommends.

I love Lisa Eldridge. I so wish she was able to upload more often though. I guess because she's an actual working make-up artist though youtube is just a secondary thing for her unlike the others? Every time she does a look I always want to rush and try it. She's just very soothing like you say.

I used to like gossmakeupartist a couple of years ago. To be honest though I find him to be a total fraud. He isn't a make-up artist like he claims. He hoards a stupid amount of cosmetics that he never ever uses (look at his collection videos they are all untouched) and I get a rather bitter vibe from him nowadays? I do however believe that his reviews are far more honest than most other youtubers. Although he does need to stop sucking up to Charlotte tilbury. Smile

I agree that Fleur is far more polished now. I like her reviews though and find them to be pretty honest with only the rare sponsor thrown in. She and her husband both come from big multi millionaire families and I find that because she can afford anything she wants I guess she doesn't need to take the money for sponsored products like others do. If she's choosing to use a budget product then it's probably quite good. She's never steered me wrong.

Tati is also nice and soothing I find. Often the products are very US based but she's a little older and I like her. www.youtube.com/user/GlamLifeGuru/videos

Salihughesbeauty videos are sometimes worth a watch for the "in the bathroom series" I don't personally love her make-up choices though.

Another vote for Wayne Goss. He's taught me more about makeup than anyone else. He's witty, down to earth, not intimidating and he's gorgeous. I have such a crush on him....
