Selling used birkenstock phonomena?!

Have any of you lot come across this before?! We were on our family holiday in greece last summer and while over there one of the hotel staff asked about the old birkenstocks i had on one day when were off out on a day trip. Apparently they are quite hard to get hold of over there, they dont have a decent ebay it's pretty rubbish. If you look at the pics i attached below i actually ended up selling these old girls before i left for 20 euros! Now dont get me wrong i love my birkenstock sandals inc these yellow ones but after consultation with my OH (well for about 10 secs) i decided hell im gonna sell em then at that price!
I have only just remembered to have a look, here's hoping for a decent summer, seeing as i am on hol today from work for some more and noticed on ebay here that old ones sell pretty well too looking at the completed listings bit, hardly any dont sell! With times being a bit harsh money wise (still) I thought i would share on here too, whatever you do dont bin old birkies they always seem to sell whatever they are like, i mentioned it to a girlfriend a while back and she said oh yeah i had a friend that had her old ones nicked from the pool side in corfu. So if you go to greece or the islands put a little 'for sale' sign on them! Wherever mine are now i loved you but not that much!!

I have about 10 pairs in the attic that are now heading to eBay!

No no noooo

don't get the ebay thing mixed up with the Greek thing

on ebay used footwear is for fetishes. Straight up. The more smelly, misshapen, and used, the better.

They like pics with the feet still in them too

eek

Really Rooners? I'd never put Birkenstocks and fettish in the same sentence!

No it's any used shoes.

Slightly concerned that the OP here is new.

There's a pair in my charity shop bag at the moment but I can't be doing with eBay, will let cancer research or bhf sort it out.

Odd first post though I agree.

Thanks for the welcome! I actually have heard of mumsnet before, but never investigated, it actually came up in a google search for something else. Having read other forums and the frequent subject of 'short on funds' in so many threads i thought i would share. I have none to sell at the mo but others must have, i will do in future for sure. I dont think anyone would want any yellow birkenstocks as a fetish item to be honest! My bloke tolerated them as a day shoe but i wouldnt say he liked them or found them particularly sexy lol!

Thanks for explaining. It was nice of you to share the idea...and when you've been here a few years you will have a great story to tell about how everyone thought you were into shoes when you first posted Grin

Well i am into shoes and have a lot, too many tbh, if it was a pair of five inch patent spike heels with perspex heels i might have re evaluated, like i have anything like that anyway!! It was a women, the receptionist, at the hotel that wanted em! Not some dodgy old caretaker! They really do sell well though!

No it's really funny - I am so sorry, and hope you will forgive me. The place has been beset by odd trolls recently including a bloke offering to do naked housework, with photos.

It's a bit Hmm since we got the photo facility on here Grin

sorry xx

Ah right, i wouldn't know the piccy thing is new! i thought it would illustrate my point though! It just struck me that spring will be here before we know it and people (like me) will be looking at what to wear this summer/replace etc and there is money to be made out of these, i only paid 30 for them new and one summer and two holidays later and somebody is offering me near on 20 for them, it was a no brainer and it was cash! No apology needed whatsoever i hope it helps some folks!

I have Greek family, spend a lot of time there and as a whole they generally tend to be very label conscious and would bee horrified at wearing someone's scuzzy old BirkiesConfused

Greeks generally tend to like more 'beautiful' shoes, not manly German sandals.

(I should know, I own about 6 pairs and feel like I've chosen comfort over style every time I'm in Greece!)

P.S. I'm very tempted to sell my birks to weird foot fetishists!

Bizarrely I went to nice last year and left my birkies at home, secure in the knowledge that the gorgeous nice girls and women wouldn't be seen dead in them. Well, blow me down, they were ALL fucking wearing them! So I will be taking them this year.
As for second hand ones, I did look on ebay before buying new but there is no way I could put my feet in them with the imprint of someone else's sweaty feet I them.

The fetish thing is true. DH belongs to a photography group online and once posted a really arty shot he'd done of his old scuffed Green Flash trainers. Some bloke in the US PMd him to ask if he could buy them!
