Anyone fancy helping me with my shopping list?

I am starting a new job in two weeks and have a week off in between during which I plan to do lots of shopping! It's a relatively senior corporate role so need to look smart, but need to walk 25 mins to do nursery drop off on the way

I have a wish list of things I think I need and would appreciate any recommendations:

  1. flat black knee high boots to wear to and from (and perhaps in) the office
  2. flat black shoes - loafers maybe - for warmer days
  3. smart black coat with hood for when it inevitably rains on the way to work
  4. nice bag either black or tan, large enough for fitting a laptop in ideally
  5. some basic black/navy/camel long sleeve tops to wear under sleeveless dresses if its cold
  6. I have lots of dresses for work but always on the lookout for more so if anyone has seen any bargains

I tend to wear simple styles in plain fabrics - dont like patterns except stripes and tend to wear black, navy or camel most of the time

Budget - Willing to spend £100-£150 each on boots, shoes, coat, bag. Maybe £50-£100 for dresses. £500-£600 ish in total. Have some birthday money and a nice bonus to spend!

Live in London so any shop is a possibility

    Thanks!

I can help with shoes - clarks hamble oak brogues are fab. Very comfy & lots of colours. I have them in the wine patent and always get compliments when I wear them! They are 55 so well within budget!

what about Michael kors jersey tote. it's big enough for laptop and the saffiano leather should hold shape better because it's much stiffer if traipsing in the rain. Mine is holding up well so far, I have regular walk between office and court with files and it's always raining. I gave up.trying to find a smart coat with a hood so went for a felt cloche hat, looks smart with coat and stops hair going mad, I got a nice one in m&s.

Thanks nyancat - I was struggling to find a jersey tote! Like the look of the jet set one - would like to see in real life so will pop into selfridges I think

Thanks liberty - some lovely things there. I don't think i'm cool enough for a duffel coat, was thinking a belted mac type-thing. There must be a gap in th market for a smart hooded mac - wonder why no-one seems to do them?

Are Barbour coats nice? I can't decide if they look smart or not. Is this too casual to wear to the office?

Happy to buy online as long as free delivery and returns but think norstrum charge to deliver to uk? I like the Michael kors with detachable hood though (although would probably not get bag and coat from same label, would look very matchy matchy!!)

In case anyone is interested this is what I've ended up buying!

Carvela boots £109 (reduced from £195)

Russell and Bromley loafers £165 (eek - but should last for ever hopefully)

Coat from Jacques Vert £99 (from £159) - not a brand I've ever looked at as thought a bit "old lady" for me but its really nice

Basic long sleeved tops Gap body £12.95 each and used a 30% off voucher.

Still searching for bag...

And decided to follow your advice nyancat and go for a Michael kors tote in tan - not the largest one as I wouldn't realistically be able to carry it if it was full - I got this one which has a cross body strap too so easier for me to carry when pushing a double buggy! Got a £100 selfridges gift voucher from work so only slightly over budget...
