Converse - how long do yours last ?

I got a pair last Xmas, wore them pretty much every day and they were knackered by about April of last year. Whilst I do a fair bit of walking I wasn't trekking miles in them every day. I was a wee bit disappointed to be honest when they started to split at the side (at the point where your foot bends as you walk).

Got a nice black and white polka dot pair in the Office sale for £26 and am now regretting it - but unfortunately they are non returnable as they're sale items Sad

Do I just have odd feet or have your Converse lasted years and years....

Mine last ages. I have several pairs and mix them up with other shoes. I think I have my first pair which I purchased about 6 years ago.

I have no idea because I literally put my first pair on this morning also seduced by the office sale

But.... I thought they must be comfy since so many people wear them but they are a bit pinchy and I'm a bit sad :(

Hopefully yours will last though!

I've had mine about five years and they get moderate wear. Well, my plain ones anyway, my special Thundercats Cheetara ones get used less Grin

I mix mine up with other shoes as well and have pairs going on 5 years+.
CAKE- The trick I find for Converse not to pinch is to NOT lace them up too hard/tight.

Unlace them, stick them on your feet then relace while wearing. Pull the laces only tight enough till the point when you start to have to use some force (if any of that makes sense).

I wear mine a lot. Probably every day in the summer and a fair amount in the winter. I usually have to buy a pair a year. They start to split around the sides.

I think they're crap; mine used to split and look threadbare within months. I don't buy them any more.

I buy a new pair every spring but I will wear them all the time.

Dd wears hers at weekends & holidays & I'm disappointed. She had them last June & they are splitting at the sides.

She does have a very high instep & pronates a little.

I have loads, all have lasted ages except a pair of black hi tops - one of the silver lace holes has come away from the shoe if that makes sense.

No problems with the soles though and I wear them to work so stood up moving in them all day long.

I've got pairs that I've had for years but I don't wear them every day. The point you mention is where they are prone to splitting I find.

I got my last pair for Christmas 2011. They started to split by about October 2013. Typically for me about two years before needing a replacement. I wear them a lot, virtually daily as I have been on mat leave.

I have three pairs and they seem to last really well. I wear them most weekends.

I got my first pair about ten years ago and they're still good enough to wear for walking the dog etc .

I had a pair of black high tops. They lasted..oooh about 4/5 months.

Didn't learn my lesson and bought a purple low pair and they fared a bit better by lasting just under a year.

At $90 a pop I just can't be having that. Ridiculous.

I now have a pair of cheapy imitation ones I bought for $10 (on special from $15) and so far are holding up nicely.

As much as I do love Converse, I think the quality of them are shit now.

They used to last ages, I had a pair that were worn most days that last almost ten years. The ones I bought in recent years didn't last as long. I don't wear them anymore as I realised I had been wearing them for 12 years so needed a change.

Oh and I find high tops last longer than lo tops.

I have a pair that I got in my 2nd year at uni which are celebrating their 20th year this year.

Though I do not wear them constantly. Obviously.

I get the slim lo ones and generally they last 18 months or so, but that is with being worn a lot.

Every day in the Spring and Summer, I've worn them loads this winter too.

And thy get chucked in the washing machine!

I've got a red pair that are coming up 3 years but they're a bit dangerous as tread has almost gone in some parts!

Hmmmmm. Will see how I get on with this new pair then, still in my winter boots at the moment so they won't be getting worn until spring time. I may be contacting Converse to complain though if they split as soon as the last pair...but I know I'll probably be onto plums....

Thanks cookie I've worn my all day with extra thick socks and they are starting to feel ok. Mine are high tops and a winter or autumn style so I guess I'll need to get a pair of lo tops for the spring too.

My problem is that I always get cheapy types that only last a few months. I'm hoping be spending a bit more they will last. Loving the stories of years and years of use.

I have four pairs and find that the inside heel lining rips very quickly. This causes blisters. The tread is also rubbish after a while. I don't buy them any more and much prefer Docs in the winter and Birkies in the summer.I

They're rubbish - mine lasted about 6 months.

DS (15) likes them, so end up buying at least one pair a year.
