For women, I'm thinking ballet or whatever that hula hoop one is. Men - swimming?

Rubybrazilianwax Wed 08-Jan-14 20:51:11

Yoga for sure

cardamomginger Wed 08-Jan-14 20:54:06

Ballet - for both women and men.

Womnaleplus Wed 08-Jan-14 20:55:45

Hmm, yes possibly swimming is little unbalanced.

Ruby, do you think yoga gives a better figure than Pilates?

eurochick Wed 08-Jan-14 21:07:12

Resistance training, no question - gives a nice defined, strong, athletic figure.

gindrinker Wed 08-Jan-14 21:10:34

I'd kill for Jessica Ennis' body.
I suspect there is a lot of resistance/weights involved.

Gymnastics and rowing

Ashtanga yoga

Bexicles Wed 08-Jan-14 21:36:31

Completely biased!

ElizabethBathory Wed 08-Jan-14 21:37:05

Pilates, and maybe ballet but too much ballet means massive calves and thighs. Depends what you like of course!

I always used to think ice-skaters had great figures. Strong and toned but in propotion.

What's resistance training?

RhondaJean Wed 08-Jan-14 21:37:23

Strength weightlifting for women. Martial arts for men.

Never running, string beans.

MarshaBrady Wed 08-Jan-14 21:37:29

Ballet does make your calves bigger.

CooEeeEldridge Wed 08-Jan-14 21:39:16

Resistance training and running, for both.

frankietwospots Wed 08-Jan-14 21:40:48

Kettlebells. Gave me the best arms I've ever had. I do 30 mins high impact and am drowning in sweat when I leave. I've even bought my own kettlebells so I can do it at home.

OneLittleLady Wed 08-Jan-14 21:41:09

Damn, i was going to look into doing ballet but I already have HUGE calves, I can't let them get any bigger!

frankietwospots Wed 08-Jan-14 21:41:31

Oh and tabata training is also great.

MarshaBrady Wed 08-Jan-14 21:42:09

One, perhaps it's when you go en pointe. I'm sure it's fine before that. Go for it.

ElizabethBathory Wed 08-Jan-14 21:43:53

No ballet definitely makes your calves bigger even if you don't go en pointe! But it depends why your calves are big in the first place - if it's fat it might burn it off and they'll get smaller? It's amazing for toning your legs and butt.

MarshaBrady Wed 08-Jan-14 21:45:13

Oh ok grin. But yes might reduce you never know.

It's very good exercise.

Flidais Wed 08-Jan-14 21:45:39

Dance, not necessarily ballet. Probably not Morris either, though I have never made a close examination.

DrNick Wed 08-Jan-14 21:46:15

gah 0 yoga is just lying around

DrNick Wed 08-Jan-14 21:46:32

i would say kettlebells or pump

Skinheadmermaid Wed 08-Jan-14 21:46:45
