I just thought there was one, but there are two sizes!

I think i want the big one but please tell me...

A) how long is your hair?

My hair is just to shoulder blades and I use a tresemme hot air styler. Gives lovely big bouncy hair with a soft wave and no frizz.
Never gotten tangled in it.
and it's cheaper

I have the big one and I find it brilliant.
My hair is long but when it was in a bob when I bought it.
I have recommended it to a few friends who hated it!

I have the big one and I have shoulder length hair.

I am evangelical about mine.

It has literally changed my life, I always wore my hair tied back, now I rarely do.

I have just bought the 50 one. It is good and easy to use. I like it but I have layers and I do get slightly more volume on the shorter layers on the top of my head from a hair dryer brush thing I bought for my dd (she doesn't use it sonicked it, by Nikki Clark I think). Therefore the 42 might be better if your hair is shorter. My hair is shoulder length.

Thanks everyone, My hair is now shoulder length, naturally very curly but i straighten it because my hair has been dropping out again (after both pregnancies, more so second time as DT's, now stress related i think!)
When i leave it curly you can clearly see the thin patches (or I can anyway)

I do however have very thick hair to start with so it's not too thin now, just thinner than it was iyswim.

I watched a youtube vid of a hairdresser with hair of a similar texture to mine and it seemed to be great on her hair. Im hoping i could lay off the straighteners quite so much.

So do you think Amazon is the cheapest place to get them?

I have the biggest one (they didn't do the smaller one when I bought it) and it works fine on my hair at chin length or at shoulder length :)

I've got bum length thick hair and am debating getting one.

Im worried my hair is to long though.

I also dont want to pay £45 for something I am likely to only use once.

Ooh Mike, i am a bit the same, i bought one of those curling wand things i have the burns to prove it i did however sell it on ebay a week later as it was shite!

You could do that? I virtually got my money back

I have the biggest one.

I have had a chin length bob, slightly longer layered and now it is to my shoulder blades and layered. It doesn't work. It is shit on all of it, trust me.

It lives in the cupboard with the curling wand that was shit. I get them both out every now and again when everyone on here raves to see if I am doing it wrong, but no it's still shit.

I've just bought the smaller one from amazon. I've got fine, fairly thin hair, with long ish layers, a bit below chin length.
I'm generally useless with hair styling stuff, but was pleasantly surprised at how easy I found this to use. Was dreading getting tangled up but that hasn't happened so far.
The only thing I have found disappointing, is that although it makes the ends lovely and swishy and flicky, I can't seem to get it to actually add volume to the top of my hair, which was my main reason for buying it. If anything, it makes it look LESS voluminous because it only seems to make the layers turn under IYSWIM. Sorry, haven't described that very well and have written an essay! Maybe it's just my hair, or maybe my technique needs improvement. There are lots of videos on YouTube that may help you decide. :)

It's v funny how different it is on different hair freaky - mine only gives volume to my roots and doesn't do anything to the ends!

Ooh freaky i totally understand, that is my worry, that because my hair is naturally curly and therefore prone to 80's frizz, i would end up with frizzy roots because i couldnt get near enough to my scalp.

IamInvisible, i think you should sell it to me Grin

Elizabeth, do you get it right into the roots?

OP posts:

ElizabethBathory · 08/01/2014 16:30

Yes Goofy, I roll up sections right to the top of my head and hold it there for a few moments, right against the roots. My hair is fine to medium thickness though - maybe it would be harder to get it right into the roots with thick hair?

dontcallmemam · 08/01/2014 16:39

freaky, i had the same problem. When I can be bothered i use keep the BBH in, turn it off then blast my roots with a normal hairdryer IYKWIM. That works for fine dead straight, fine lank hair.

I have a few inches past shoulder length hair and (accidentally) got the small one. It sort of works, but feel the bigger one would be better

Report
MikeLitoris · 08/01/2014 17:59

I need to try before I buy. If I get it and its crap I will never get round to selling it on. It wil just live in the shit drawer with all the other must haves I have bought.

I'm looking out for a second hand one. Although they dont come up cheap anywhere often do they?

i love mine, just got a new one as my old one went bang. hair used to be in a bob but have grown it now so it's about level with my collar bone. i have the smaller barrel one and my old one was the bigger one, i don't think there's that much difference between the 2. i went for the smaller one this time as i'm quite likely to get hair lopped off again this year back to a bob.

elizabeth maybe we should exchange techniques!

dontcallmemam ooh, that sounds interesting, I'll definitely give it a try, thanks!

Ok I've read about this loads on here but what actually is it?

Hairdryer with a rotating brush - kind of combines the hair dryer with the big bristle brush used to curl hair under.

I have bought one and pleased with the result.

They were on special offer in boots when I went a few days ago. Have dropped a few hints about wanting it as a birthday present!
