What would you spend £100/£200 if you had to spend it on yourself?

My dad has very unexpectedly decided to give me £200 after he had a small windfall. There is only one catch, I have to spend £100 of it on myself on something nice and not on the kids or on paying a bill.

Any ideas? I could in theory spend all of the £200 on myself but I feel a bit mean doing that. I really like Vivienne Westwood and have always coveted a brooch or a small handbag. My DH thinks I should put some money to and buy this... but it's not even leather blush

I also like this

I welcome any ideas, what would you spend it on?

What about something from a young designer? A friend recently pointed me in this jewellery designers direction!

I have DMs in about 7 colours including black and have to agree with you! My OTD posts wearing DMs used to drive tons of traffic to my blog so think they are a big draw for a fair few.

Love the fact that DD now borrows pairs to wear. I remember when she was younger and had her own and wouldn't wear them. And guess what she has for school shoes now after the bleeding kickers I bought lasted less than a term!!

If you change your mind, a black pair of Dr Martens would be a good investment. Last absolutely ages and go with anything, skinny jeans, skirts, or dresses with some nice thick tights, even with shorts they look good in the spring, I can put them with pretty much anything in my wadrobe! I'd do that (i'd buy a new colour, maybe a purple pair) then spend the other 100 on DS.

If I only had £100 to blow it would have to be magic potion as my face is in bits right now sad

To really maximise my pennies I would hunt for a Debenham 20% code so I can get a 75ml AND 30ml bottle, and of course go through quidco!

Was so proud of myself for not succumbing to the lust that arose upon spotting this beauty on sale...

If you love Westwood classics, I'd go for putting the money toward an Anglomania jacket. A McQueen scarf is a good, classic piece, I agree with the others.

The kinds of things I buy myself for around £100:

Georg Jensen earrings
Malene Birger scarf
Lalla Marrakech bag

Or perhaps you could put it towards a larger jewellery purchase. I love Ole Lynggaard's pieces.

Enjoy researching your dream treat!

A coat I really liked.

I like Westwood - have you an outlet near you? There's one in Bicester village and I've not checked the bags or shoes because they don't do it for me, but have seen some good bargains there.

Personally, I don't care for the bag though it's a lovely colour. You don't like any of these?

But if it were me, I'd get a VW Anglomania jacket - possibly off ebay.

I like this bag

I quite fancy the hummingbird or the Calabria crescent in the silver. IMO if it looks good in gold, it also looks good in silver re Alex Monroe

MickleMe Sun 05-Jan-14 15:47:44

butterflies I really like the bumble bee but don't suit gold so would have to get it in silver and i'm not sure it would look as good.

70 I really appreciated your suggestion x

Kosher I have just had a hoc colour consult and i'm a jewel winter. I've just lost 1st on slimming world and need to lose about another 6. I think a style day might be more useful when i'm a bit smaller, i'm thinking the fat would get in the way of a proper style consult. Good idea though

KosherBacon Sun 05-Jan-14 07:11:24

I'd pay for a hoc colour or style consult. Crazy as you don't walk away with anything in your hand, but it pays for itself quickly as you don't buy silly clothes.

I love designer bags and have about 10k worth. If someone suggested a North Face jacket I'd actually laugh at them

Well Juno OP asked "What would you spend it on"?

I hope your £10K worth of bags keep you warm and dry hmm

But yeah, have a laugh in my face why don't you ?

Alex Monroe is gorgeous, I have a gold bumble bee necklace which I love and some twisty flowery hoop earrings. I also bought a wallet in the smythson sale last year and it still looks new, gorgeous leather and some good discounts. Buy something you'll see and use a lot.

Thanks for all your help, I think i'm going to get an Alex Monroe piece of jewellery. I've loved his stuff for a while so I just need to choose which piece to get thanks

The thing with bags is that I would be unlikely to love the same bag for much longer than about 18 months and then it would be condemned to the back of the wardrobe when I found something else. Bags are a bit of a fashion statement, I think and people don't generally wear the same one for that long.

I have never worn a brooch-they look like the sort of thing my grandma would wear, but if that's your thing, then great.

If it was me, I'd go for a necklace or bracelet-I'd be more likely to wear that-on and off-for years and years. Or a great pair of boots.

The Zara bags can be excellent value for money. Ditto Massimo Dutti, so might be worth looking there, too.

TheBookofRuth Sat 04-Jan-14 23:13:03

I need a haircut, so I'd probably spend it on a good one.

standupandbecountered Sat 04-Jan-14 23:12:49

What about a good quality purse? I got an orla kiehly one about 6 years ago, use it every single day and it still looks great. I love it, it gives me real pleasure, definitely worth the money!

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo Sat 04-Jan-14 23:11:41

Love this!

Juno77 Sat 04-Jan-14 23:10:30

Oh yes, I have some lovely Alex Monroe pieces, beautiful stuff and not expensive. Good call!

Designer bags are great but only if you buy them for the quality and longevity. Cheap ones are usually just paying for the name, not my cup of tea at all.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo Sat 04-Jan-14 23:07:59

Don't know if this is any help:

Leather bags in asos sale.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo Sat 04-Jan-14 23:04:41

I like the handbag, not so sure about the brooch.

I need a new bag at the moment so would spend some of the money on that and the rest on a day out in London with DD.

MickleMe Sat 04-Jan-14 23:01:17

Alanna1 I do and I don't grin ...really not sure what to get but my lovely dad has made it clear that it has to be a nice bag, jewellery etc
