My old boots are flapping at the toe and letting in water, but my feet are so fucking enormous that I can't buy women's shoes on the high street. I almost cried in Jones today when I could zip up any of their "9s" (a 42, wtf?). Sometimes I can just about jam my foot in but it's all folded up inside and I'd be in agony in minutes.

Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghh

Couldn't, not could. My feet are so big I can't even see to type properly [sadface].

I am the same, a 43 9, not a 42. It winds me right up.

I am currently living in my size 43 Dr. marten Gayle boots. Fit like a dream!

Doc martens do quite a generous 9 and have some lovely boots. What style are you after?

Duo do a 43 fitting and different calf fittings. They have a sale on. If your feet are wider then Evans go up to a 10. Some 9's in Clark's. New look do a 42(9) but I find them big. I am an 8(42).

Give Clarks a go. I bought some biker boots from there in November and have practically lived in them, they are the comfiest boots I've ever had!

I am too big for anything in Clarks. I've never tried anything on in Evans, should I? I need something decent and long-lasting. Knee high and plain for wearing day to day.

I may even be a 10 for all I know - I literally can't wear anything on the high street I've seen so far.

I couldn't agree more about the 42/43 thing and neither can my DM, a 9 equates to a 43.

As a 9 myself I would also recommend Clarks National Sugar which are really roomy and feel great whilst wearing thick socks. I also own loads of DMs such as the 8 hole Clemancy and the Chelsea boot Cadence. The knee length Elena was good and very wide, plus it's probably still available on eBay somewhere!

Have you got a Brantano near you? They go up to size 10 for women. I'm a 8.5(42) and normally get the best range in there. I look in the 9's for the smaller fitting ones.

Try Tall Girls here www.tallgirls.co.uk/__/wfb/large-size-9-ladies-boots, their footwear starts at size 9. Free returns till the end of the month as well.

Clarks in store only go up to an 8 most of the time. But on their website they have 9s including in a wide fitting. Obviously nowhere near the range of their 8s, but there are some there. I'm also a size 9 wide, and ordered in a bunch (for free) to my local store, tried them all on there, picked my favourite and paid for it. Some fit better than others - not all the ones I ordered in were okay.

Brantanos has the most size 9s and 10s in my experience, the bigger the store the better.

Evans doesn't seem too bad although the range was not great in our local one. New Look did indeed have lots of 9s, some of which fitted! But I don't know what the quality is like for New Look or Evans.

Both my sisters have size 9 feet and one of them mentioned getting shoes from Next the other day, so perhaps they have some?

M+S do wide shoes, but don't know if they go up to 9/43?

What about the online sellers? When I was looking for biker boots last autumn I ordered about 10 pairs from one of the online sellers (schuh/shoe-shop.com/asos?) and remember that they had masses of choice.

I remember they came in two enormous boxes that I could barely lift Grin but I only kept one pair, but all the rest were on free delivery and returns.

42 are most definitely not 9s but 8s. Jones are just wrong!!
