So is anyone else already thinking... "After Christmas I'll start cutting carbs/ using night cream every night/ waxing more regularly"?

I'm letting myself go now, but after Xmas I have promised myself to

  • have a good wardrobe clear out and be honest with myself about what doesn't fit

  • start yoga again

  • get into a better skincare routine

  • wear make up even when I am not at work so I actually use my non- work make up like bold eyeliner, wine coloured lipstick etc

I've started by clearing off my vanity table and putting all my make up that I never wear into a bag to take to see my DSisses tomorrow - some of it is brand new and I just didn't get on with it.

Is anyone else making resolutions in their heads?

I decided yesterday to make an effort in the New Year to try the 5:2 diet, wear moisturiser at night instead of a full face of make up for bed and to try and not wear jeans at least twice a week. I invest so much time helping my family and others that I often neglect myself.

Go running at least twice a week. Intend to make dp drag me out, whatever my excuse.

Sort out my manky hands. How though?

The moisturiser one is good! I just discovered Loreal purifying gel wash which gets my make up right off and makes my skin feel nice.

You could also iron your jeans so you feel smarter in them :)

I spend my life at work so only have smart work clothes and work make up!

What do you find manky about them Remus?

I need to do my feet but am afraid they are truly beyond help :(

They are looking old and skinny and a bit witch-like. :(

Flexitol for feet - and the S&G foot file.

After years of buying Clarins moisturiser I decided to be a bit thrifty and buy Nivea blue container moisturiser a couple of weeks ago. Huge tub for under £5. It's fantastic.

I work from home, so only have to wear suits for occasional meetings. Think if I lose weight on 5:2 diet, I may turn into Boden wearing yummy mummy, but doubt it !

I use this on my hands at night.

It's lovely and smells divine Grin

Continue with weight watchers. Once I get to goal to promise myself to go once a month in order to keep at that weight and not gain.

Once I get to goal I am going to have a HoC style day.

I am going to remember to follow Caroline Hiroms blog as my skin looks so much better when I buy it.

I will not buy clothes that are "ok"' "will do" or will last one season. I vow to only buy if I think it is perfect and it is well made and will last. Quality not quantity.

Mine started early as DH left in November and I have been clearing as much out as possible. My local charity shop has received tonnes of clothes, shoes and books!

As I have spread out into two wardrobes I have gone through everything. Either charity shop/ebay (Have a friend coming over in Jan to teach me the ways of ebay)/or throw. A happy side effect has been that I have lost almost 2 stone and can wear a lot of clothes I haven't worn in a while so I am actually enjoying thinking about what to wear etc. I am into slathering moisturiser everywhere and my skin is looking and feeling much better. Face still looks grey but am piling on the blusher, probably look like a Dutch doll!

To lose some weight so my lovely clothes fit me.

To get fit.

Remus - I've started using hand chemistry and its very good.

Sorry, didn't say what my resolutions are:

Keep weight off and exercise more.
Moisturise all the time.
Try to find a newish look for me and hope that 2014 will come good in the end.

Last year I made a real effort to feel good physically
I lost a stone and kept it off, and dropped a dress size. I am at my optimum weight.
I look after my skin which is one of my best assets.
I went to a makeup counter and got some great products which make me look better!

What I want to do in 2014 is not keep clothes for best, but wear what I have in more imaginative ways.
Learn how to do manicures...my cuticles are shit although my actual nails are good.

So many...

Get back into pre DC shape as far as possible - lack of body confidence is getting me down.

Stop biting my nails/pulling at my eyebrows and lashes - no idea why I do this anyway.

Start some facial exercises to fend off the jowls.

YY to only buying things that are great - current wardrobe is awash with faded vest tops, bobbly cardigans and saggy arsed jeans.

Learn how to use hard wax myself to save some money.

Thanks for the handcream recs. I usually use Clarins or Aveda but can't just the expense at the moment, so the Hand Chemistry is out, I'm afraid.

I AM going to:

drink more water.

2 fast days a week.

Go to pilates once a week, yoga once a week and run once a week.

Carry on with my skincare routine to try and sort it out once and for all.

Stop drinking so much and drink water, herbal tea or some other shit instead.

I will fit into my old high waisted jeans from before I had dd!

novelsituation · 21/12/2013 19:55

Been here before and failed spectacularly, but am planning to make no clothing/ shoe/ accessory purchases in 2014. Am not in debt, but spend far too much on clothes, DD1 will be going to uni and now's the time to rein it in.
I can buy necessary sports stuff and tights but that's it.

Also plan to keep up Body Combat ( love it) and paint nails more often.

Alchemist sorry about your DH Flowers

How do you plan on finding your new look?

Kosher yy to that - I am always trying something on and thinking, yeah okay - I need to wait for that "ooh I look pretty in this" moment even if it means I go home empty handed froma shopping trip!

Also need to lose weight.

Feet almost certainly beyond help. DH and I go walking a lot and I did a three day trip with him in the summer and buggered my big toenail which is now coming off :( I really hope it grows back :( currently have a deep brown/red in my toenails to hide the horrible bruising and ickiness but fear it's about to get worse!

Get to target at Slimming World and stay there.

And finally beat my trichotillomania once and for all.

Just not justify.

Oh and finally (gawd knows how) find some more good basic tops which suit me and somehow minimise norkage. Holy Grail though, I think.

Healthy eating - never dieting again but need to lose weight....!

Exercise at all more

chuck crappy clothes which were bought because they fitted not because I liked them.

Body scrub and moisturise 3x a week

shave my legs more often than once in a blue moon

and

learn how to blow dry my hair so it isn't a massive frizz ball, can't be that hard surely?

Report
Mumelie · 21/12/2013 22:25

Oh so many. .....

Firstly get my eating back under control - I'd like to lose the few lbs I've gained in December and another stone if possible. I usually do WW but like a bit of low carb in the summer.

Secondly stop spending so much on clothes! I have masses and do not need anything more (after the sales that is Wink ).

Then I'd like to find a hair color that actually stays in my hair - salon or home dye job - it all ends up blonde and I want a light brown.

Other things that need work are my nails, my eyebrows (woefully lazy there) and could start some exercise.

Francois · 21/12/2013 22:37

Lose a couple of stone and more importantly tone up
Keep on with pilates and swimming/gym 2/3 times a week
No more clothes unless absolutely necessary. Trying to go with less but better quality but still seem to keep buying.
More water, less diet coke, less sugar
