What new purse? £250 budget

I've been saving for a new purse, was thinking of a mulberry one but really don't fancy it now.

What good alternatives could I look at? Just needs to be black or brown leather and be a good size to hold cards and money Grin

£250 for a purse?! I'd spend £5-10 & put the rest in my purse Grin

My friend has a Gucci one she is dearly in love with.

£50 should buy a decent leather purse somewhere like Debenhams and the £200 would be better spent going to charity Smile

Another suggestion for Smythson - they make such beautiful leather goods.

Mulberry ones can be fab. I have an ancient conga ? Leather one had it for over ten years and used to use it every day. Have a continental one now and its a good size but not too big.

I have a Longchamp one which I saved for ages to buy and then got the summer after I left school. 5 years old and it still makes me happy every time I take it out.

I longed for a mulberry and I just think they have been done to death now. I no longer find my mulberry bags special or cherished.

Smythson sounds great, will be in London on wed and can have a good look for ideas.

I have two mulberry purses and I have to say i'm not very impressed with the quality. Hugely overpriced too. Liberty have some lovely ones

..... and Longchamp quality is amazing

Mine has barely aged at all. Seriously impressed.

Smythson ones, I think, feel heavier than mine (when empty).

New Bond St has a Mulberry, a Smythson and a Longchamp shop.

Longchamp are good, I like Aspinal too. I've two new £200+ purses nicked a row, so keep an eye on it!

I agree with whoever said keep an eye on it I've got 2 mulberries and had 1 stolen a year ago in a bar. My friend has had her Gucci logo purse nicked etc.

Tabitha used to do really nice purses and is it smith and canova well they sell in John Lewis and do great everyday purses.

Go to Liberty's when you are in London. Lots of lovely purses, and some slightly more unique brands! (Making them all the more special IMO)

I am not fussed about the brand, I have a selection of handbags but its not to match one.

Will head to Liberty I think to look and Selfridges if I have time.

I have had a Marc by Marc purse and the leather was lovely but the hardware feel to bits on the front after about 6 months.

Will add that the hardware on my mulberry purse (1yo) looks awful, all the colour has rubbed off!

Next time it will be Chloe.

My vote is DKNY - I have one that I've had for years and I don't think I'd go back to cheaper bags as it's lasted longer *

It looks quite normal sized on the outside, but is actually like the TARDIS.

I got mine from John Lewis in the sale.

  • Though sod Russell and Bromley - I got an expensive suede bag from them and the dye transferred all over my hands when I went for an important promotion interview.

Try The Outnet for good reductions!

I have a quilted lambskin Chanel purse I bought at the Chanel outlet in NY when the dollar rate was $2.01. It came to £160, the same one here retails at £900!! It's done me proud Grin used it everyday for YEARS.

I love the Marc by Marc Jacobs ones.
