Can you link to your most stylish winter coat (it must be warm and have a proper hood)
(73 Posts)Someone described the merrell one that I liked as frumpy and I completely see what they mean!
Please help me find a warm and stylish winter coat!am prepared to beg!!
Lots of coats similar to those you've linked to LostMarbles

Trip - I love Decathlon. Got dd1 leather boots for £25.
John Lewis own brand do a fur lined hooded mac in brown or black. Looks great - sorry I can't do a link.
I ordered this yesterday , seemed to fit the bill of warm jacket with hood for school runs, work etc but still looks vaguely stylish

This is 50% off at the moment, for £65 it is warm, waterproof and doesn't look like you are wrapped in a sleeping bag (though it is deliciously toasty when worn).
In reality you're not going to get a super stylish coat that is going to be technically efficient. I've got the north face Juneau which is a gorgeous thick waterproof parka, not the most gorgeous but keeps me warm and dry at the football and will last me years.
What about the north face Boulevard it's not got a hood but is lovely and warm and waterproof!
You should add what your budget is
This has just come into Whistles. They haven't detailed what it's made of but you could ring and find out (their coats usually have a really good percentage of wool in them). I love the colour but could never carry it off! If you have pale skin, blue eyes and blonde hair or have dark eyes, hair and skin, it could look lovely on you!

It also come in olive, also beautiful:

It's not on John Lewis' website yet but, if you like it, at £250 it might be worth waiting for it to hit John Lewis and wait for one of their 20% events! I think they're be some coming up in the run-up to Christmas, the SA I spoke to in there recently certainly seemed to think there'd be a few, although she couldn't say when, obviously.
This has the potential to look frumpy so you'd have to try it on (15% off Hobbs full-price until 11am tomorrow with promo code FLASH):

Also, Hobbs:

If you can live without a hood (maybe wear a nice hat and scarf?), this is nice, would be flattering if you have smallish boobies (Hobbs' Outlet section - 80% wool!)

I have this with a hood. I admit I didn't pay that price! It is however, warm and waterproof and I love it!
Check out the wearing it today blog - amazing fashion advice!
they don't come any warmer than these:
www.canada-goose.com/products-page/products/kensington-parka/
They are expensive (about GBP 400)...and the fur, while ethically farmed etc, is real. Oh so toasty though
I bought this one its lovely
Shosha, that's lovely! What's the sizing like, please?
Im a 14/16 with big norks and the 16 fitted well, slightly long in the arms, but all sleeves are on me.
Zalando are brill to buy from too, delivery is free (they do use yodel, but yodel for small stuff here is good) and it usually arrives in just a couple of days
Great - thank you - it's on my list now!
Sorry. Style tends to go out of the window when it's -42 with the windchill!
I have beautiful wool long coats from Hobbs and coast and a very toasty down filled puffa style jacket from john lewis. all past seasons so no links but the puffa style one is soo soo warm,
what i dont have is something waterproof for nipping out when it is pouring with rain all year round as my kagoul has started leaking. Any opinions on this one please?

does this one look warm?
I like that Zolando website but now I'm more confused than ever!
Moose i'm praying the Canada goose is up to the challenge!
The hood has a kind of wire in it so it kind of rolls out further if you need it to - so your face is hidden in a furry tunnel. I'll report back when it's actually cold. -10 this morning was balmy
Badgers I found my CG was so bloody warm there wren only a few days I could actually wear it! I'd like to get done more wear out of it
*were
i did wonder if that would happen - i hope not as i have to justify the cost to DH
I think the words 'hood' and 'stylish' are mutually exclusive, TBH. Sorry, not helpful...
I agree re the Canada Goose. Its TOO warm for all but the coldest days.
Also, I could never be sure if the DC were warm enough. I like to wear slightly less than them, so I know if they are cold.
