REALLY warm gloves?

I have Raynauds and my hands hurt like hell when it is cold. I need REALLY warm gloves. Wool - no good. Cashmere - no good. Cashmere lined leather - no good. I don't want anything too bulky, because I still need to be able to do things with my hands when I have them on.

Any thoughts anyone? Thank you!

The Raynaud's association gives links to some apparently great gloves, socks etc that are made using silver. I may try them myself because I just CAN'T get chilblains again this year

I don't know that they exist. The only ones that might be warmer would be heated gloves, ski-ing gloves or sheepskin, but they're all bulky.

Have you tried real fur lined gloves?

The warmest gloves I've ever had are made from possum fur and merino wool. The fur is ethical as the animals are a massive pest and culled in NZ (they are introduced and decimate native floors and fauna). They might not be any good on their own for your extreme situation, but as a liner they will work magic.

I have brought socks and gloves for friends who ride scooter in UK winter and they are in love with them all winter long.

I don't know if anyone sells them in UK but you could buy online.

they mix the possum with merino wool as the possum fibre is quite short.

Skiing gloves are too bulky. The Uggs might be worth looking at. Not seen fur lined.

Mittens much better than gloves. Try sheepskin mittens with silk glove liners underneath.

I have the ugg mittens and they are very warm. They aren't waterproof though, so don't play around in the snow too much with them.

I used to have some leather ski mittens with fleece lining - they were very warm too, but I lost them somewhere.

I've got the silver gloves and they are brilliant. They are thin enough to do stuff with them on, they keep me warm and I can even use my phone with them on unlike most other gloves so I don't have to take my gloves off when playing on here. I actually got mine on the NHS through my consultant, if you see a consultant for your raynauds it may be worth speaking to them.

Every time the weather is cold, a few of my fingers turn white and numb and both little toes go white and numb (Always thought I had a touch of Raynaud's but never bothered doctor) so I'm looking for both warm gloves and warm socks! Mother just bought me sheepskin insoles to try and help a bit...still worrying!

How warm do those silver thingies keep you when you are outside? I don't need gloves when I'm indoors, as a rule. Would they suit me more as liners for other gloves, do you think?

Started thinking about socks as well. The last few years I've been wearing boots by La Canadienne. Unavailable in the UK, so I get some delivered to DH's hotel when he's in North America on business. Thy are about the only things that keep my feet both warm and completely dry.

Aquatalia are a North American brand similar to Canadienne & you can get them in Russell & Bromley.

They're thermal & totally waterproof. I've got a pair that are 20 years old & they're still going strong and have never leaked.
