In really liking the ones in the shops atm, but im a bit scared of looking like dorian from birds of a feather.

Worth buying or not?

Yes! I bought the PU front panel ones from Next (ok, so not real leather) and they are fab!

I got a size 8 and they are just right.

Think you have to dress them down though...think long chunky knit or a simple long Breton. I would have to have something that covers my bum as I don't like leggings worn as trousers. Still a bit puzzled about what to wear on my feet though so have ordered the Clarks Chorus Voice snakeskin heels which I will wear loads anyway.

I think they look good with slouchy jumpers. I would go for ankle boots rather than a court shoe.

I've been trying on loads recently. They look soooo good dressed down with ankle boots and slouchy tops, or with a vest and simple blazer I think. However, I have yet to find an affordable pair that don't make me look fat. And I'm a skinny link. They add so much bulk. I've totally ruled out lined trousers and I'm not that keen on the leggings variety. So far £900 J Brand skinnies perfect, but I've not really got that budget. Be really interested to know if anyone finds any flattering varieties that don't completely break the bank Grin If you do then go for it!

One thing that always springs to mind when I see leather trousers is how do people keep them clean? I mean, a sweaty gusset in machine washable items is easily remedied, but what state would leather trousers be in after a while?! Hmm

I'm going for pleather, and the Warehouse ones look good. Topshop ones are usually really good, too, albeit too high waisted for me (I'm either adjusting or abandoning mine for this reason)

To avoid the dorian/loose women look dress down and no other glitz or sparkle ANYWHERE on your person! Low key hair and make up too. I think the older you are the harder it is esp as you see young girls everywhere in them looking amazing and kind of casual. They are a bit xmas office do if you get it wrong

I think if you are tall slim and spectacular looking naturally you can wear at any age BUT you have to outshine them iykwim and not the other way round. SOmehow on people who really suit them they don't really stand out

I disagree on the Clarkes heels, saw that particular pair in person yesterday and they are really lovely.
