So I ordered this dress, but now it's here I'm really not sure about it. I don't know if it looks at bit frumpy as it's right on my knee. I would be ( hopefully if they arrive in time ) wearing with these www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/shoes/high-heel-pointed-heel-shoes-c269191p1406050.html
This is for a hen do at the Sanderson Hotel in London. Bit of a cool/funky/hip'n'happening place apparently. I am none of these so struggling!
Which, if any, of these outfits do you think would be best? And if none of them, what else can I try.

I think this one is a clear winner. I love the way the top hangs on you and the slightly gathered neckline is really flattering. The drapey dress seems just a bit too pale. I think you need to be darker skinned to carry it off. It doesn't work at all with the leggings.

Totally agree that one jumped out as the clear winner.

I like this outfit the best. But then I like colour.

I like either the leopard print dress with blazer and definitely no leggings or probably my favourite is the lovely cream drapey top with the gathered neckline with your blazer and dark trousers, both outfits would be good though. Enjoy yourself!

Thanks - the drapey one is an old fave from New Look! It's slightly see through. Should I wear a cami underneath or choose a slightly better fitting and less spotty bra? Is flashing my bra a bit of a no-no for a nearly 40 year old I wonder?! I'm thinking yep....

snoopy I'm now thinking perhaps I could wear the leopard dress for the actual wedding...with some fake tanned legs. I think my pasty pins don't do it any favours at all. Do you think it's 'wedding-ey guest' enough?

I prefer the sequin top. Not keen on the drapey one with the jacket.

I'm not keen on the dress. You look lovely in skinny jeans and I like all the tops. I don't like the shoes at all. They make my eyes water just looking at them!

bobkate · 16/09/2013 20:22

Ha! bunbaker do you mean the ones I am wearing in the pics or the Zara ones I linked to? The ones in the pic are really old manky ones that used to have a bow before the dog bit one off so I won't be wearing those. If not the Zara ones, can you suggest any others that don't make your eyes water?!

Well I'd say with those fantastic legs I'd wear the red patterned tunic with a pair of thick opaques and the black heels you have on in those pics.

Am very Envy of your legs!

Ah x post. A pair of plain black heels then, not ankle straps ones with tights.

Same as ouryve too - it's really nice outfit. I really like the colourful dress too, but probably not for the hen night. Not keen on the other dress.

Sorry bobkate I didn't mean to sound so rude. I am judging the shoes from my own perspective. I can't walk in shoes that high and I don't like pointy toes (you can tell I am not a shoe fashionista).

I am envious that you look so good in skinny jeans.

I really like the dress although can't see whether the colour suits your face? I'd wear it with opaques and funky shoe boots.

bunbaker Didn't read it as being rude Smile I'm making a dash to bluewater tomorrow so I'll look for some plain black ones. My DH will be pleased that I can send the dress back. The jacket was £7.49 in the H&M sale too so all the more money for cocktails. Although given the venue I think I'll need it!
