Have you tried on your wedding dress since your big day?

Did it still fit? Did you like it just as much or did it make you think, "what was I wearing?". Or worse, "Look at the state of me now!"

I have just moved house and my wedding dress hasn't gone back up in the loft yet. I can see the box and really want go get the dress out and try it on, but I know I will be disappointed.

Would you recommend it or should I resist the urge?

Yes I have! My DDs and I got it all out once, dresses, shoes the lot Smile We had great fun trying it all on etc. my DHs face was a picture when he came in to see what all the noise was about Grin

And yes it still fitted, if anything a bit big. Got married in 1999 Thanks

Yes! Coming up to 30 year anniversary. I still like it, it almost fits but the waist is a little tight- it's very fitted and I used to be 24 inch waist then.

Do it.

I did it last year. My dress is a long black one, not a proper wedding dress.

It still fits, but I've only been married 3 years.

I wore my wedding dress to a friends wedding a year after ours! But my dress wasn't a proper wedding dress, we'd gone to New York just the two of us. It was gold and cream and knee length. It still fits but its only been 2 years.

Mine fitted me still last year. I tried it on before I took it to the charity shop. As I got married in 1997 it was an awful puffy sleeved, embroidered bodice with massive skirt and big bow at the back affair! Loved it then but certainly wouldn't choose it now!

Not 1997, I got married in 1995! So long ago I can't remember!

No
I was tiny in those days. Size, not height, I was still tall Grin
I'm now slap bang in my idea weight with very wide hips so No chance even if the waist fitted

We got married in Australia, then had a big party here, so, yes, I wore it again. I am now 2 sizes bigger (11 years and 3DC later) but due to the corset style, I could probably squeeze into it!

Yes. It's our 10th anniversary next week, so I thought I'd try it on. it's a bit big now but it's corset style so still looks nice. I want to wear it out now!

No, but I was at a wedding this weekend and really, REALLY wanted to wear mine then (obviously turning up at someone else's wedding in your own dress is frowned upon).

I might get it down this weekend. I hope it fits - we've only been married just over a year.

I'm due in 7 weeks, three weeks before my first anniversary. Not a hope in he'll of me getting anywhere near it!

I can't say I'll never try it though.

Yes! I tried it on last year for the first time in 12 years. It was huge.

Yes! It was our 10 year wedding anniversary this week and my aim was to get back into it, and I did with a little help from DC's

It was very tight but I've lost 2 stone doing 5:2 so I was well chuffed.

Might have been an idea to confirm what time DH was going to get back from work as I swanned around the house without breathing for an hour and a half with our wedding music on standby. Grin

I still love it and it hasn't dated although it still has all the spills and muck of the day on it and some wax crayon thanks to ds1 who was 18 months at the time

I only got married 3 years ago but I was a small size 6 back then and only ate salad. Since then, I have started working for a chocolate company, eaten my own body weight in Ben and Jerry's and had a baby so I'm not holing my breath (although I may have to if I am to stand any chance of squeezing into said wedding dress). I might have to try it on soon though as I doubt I will stand a chance if I have a second child!

Haha, Hopa

The image of you waiting endlessly in a big dress which is getting more and more crayon on it as you wait made me giggle.

I can't try my dress on but I sit on it every day. I sold it and bought this lovely teak garden bench here :)

I tried it on for some friends a few weeks ago. It still fits, which is pleasing after 6 years and 2 DCs, but it fits differently. My boobs aren't quite as pert as they were so the cleavage isn't as amazing, and I have more belly but I am a bit slimmer on the hips. So I don't look as good.

I still love it though and it doesn't seem dated. It was a knee length tea dress in cream satin with lace sleeves and beading so not like most wedding dresses then or now.

I got married in 1993, I tried my dress on in the Royal Wedding year, to show my daughters. It still fitted (smug boast) and it is lovely - very 'Pride & Prejudice', empire line cream. My mum made it, I love it - such a shame it could only be worn once.

DD wanted to play a game the other day and insisted I wore it. I was a slim, fit size 10 when I got married. 8yrs and two dc later, I'm a slim, fit size 8 and it is too big for me. Smile
