Best vintage/swing dresses?

I've seen lots of lovely links on here to Lady V London, Collectif, DollyDagger- and I really fancy a 50s style swing dress! Has anyone ordered form any of these ( or similar!) sites, and have any recs/ advice on sizing etc?

The dress I really like is this one pieces-of-the-past.myshopify.com/collections/swing-dresses/products/carola-vintage-style-halter-swing-dress
But I don't think I could do that colour!

If be very grateful!

Ordered from LadyV, no problems at all and their swing dresses are great for the price.

Always go by your measurements rather than what size you'd usually wear, I love Collectif and find they run true to size as do Lindy Bop. Vivien of Holloway is made to vintage sizing so run a couple of sizes smaller. Also most of these will have a high waist so measure on your natural waistline rather than around your belly button :)

I've heard the same about most - I would say LadyV runs to modern sizes though.

Oh thank you! For the bust measurements, is that biggest bit of boob or band sized?

I am long waisted ( I think- natural waist is very near belly button!) so that is a bit of a concern for me- I look wierd if its a bit too high! I hadn't seen Lindy bop, so in off for a look.

I buy replica vintage dresses from Tara Starlet. Great fit, excellent customer services and the dresses are lovely.

Just saw this thread ... this is on a tangent, but if you google 'pinup persuasion' you'll find a blog by this random woman who tries on loads of vintagy dresses and shows you what they look like on, tells you what underwear she has on, etc.

I found it on Saturday as I was looking for reviews of some of these dresses, because I always find you can't really tell how thick the material is by looking online. Really useful for me.

Other than that I spend my life recommending these people: www.limb-clothing.com/info2.cfm?info_id=149487

But they don't have much variety in the swing dresses as you can see. Their stuff is really nicely made, and the size guide is totally accurate.

I've just bought a dress from Vivien of Holloway, it's fab and their shop staff were lovely and helpful. It's in my regular size so they don't come up that small.

I really want to buy a Vivien of Holloway dress for my friends wedding but am worried about ordering the wrong size.

Are the measurements on their site pretty accurate? I think I would need the 44 bust/36 waist size if it is?

I'd ring them for advice, at the shop they measured my waist and I was between sizes, they advised which ones to try in each size depending on the fabric and they were really helpful.
