Are there any sandals in existence that are comfortable when walking miles, AND nice at the same time?

I walk 8+miles a day most days and nothing I own is really standing up to it. I have some lovely leather sandals from Gap that are pretty comfy but starting to fall apart, I suppose because the amount of walking I do.

I don't really want Fit Flops though they are v comfy I just can't put aside how mumsy they are. When it's cooler I wear Superga but in this heat, no way.

Any ideas??

Ecco sandals very comfy. Can walk for miles in them and they dont rub.

Yes - sorry sad I mean they're ok, but they aren't pretty. Not exactly ugly but very functional looking. But thank you for looking smile

I have Teva sandals which I have lived in over the last few summers - they are so comfy and doing well given how much wear they've had! Sorry can't link but they are walking sandals so might be too functional looking?

I use Teva too but they are a bit functional. I found a pair that are similar but straps were red leather, and therefore smarter, in Clarks a few years ago. Neither will set the fashion world on fire but they are the only ones that really work for more than a mile for me.

Saltwater are remarkably comfortable - kind of geek chic though.

I love the Merrells!

I can walk to the ends of the earth in patent Birkenstock Florida (3 bar) sandals. I get the patent ones - look prettier.

Another vote for Birkenstock, especially patent. I saw an inutterably elegant French woman on a south of France campsite last year wearing ones that were patent and sparkly. I swooned.

I have some from clarks - Renver Band (can't link on my phpne) that are ok they are comfy but don't look like I'm going to walk up a mountain.

Merrel do have some other nicer sandals but also very ££.

I wear navy coloured sketchers go walk. They are the comfiest shoes ever but they are frumpy though a lot better with rolled up jeans and denim shorts.

DisappointedHorse Fri 19-Jul-13 19:25:49

Yes to Birkenstocks. My bronze Mayari are my favourite and most comfortable pair of shoes ever,

I've got these in white which are an almost acceptable compromise except that they're rubbing my Achilles' tendon at the moment sad - hoping for improvement with gradual build up.

These, despite being BHS, are pretty good and I got them super cheap, but they're not wearing well - after a couple of months' intermittent wear the toe area is wearing through sad.

MorrisZapp Fri 19-Jul-13 19:57:20

I really like those Merrells!

the absolutely only sandals i could walk 8 miles in are teva. sorry.

do you have to look pretty during the walk? i'd wear tevas to walk and change into something lighter and more delicate at work or wherever it is you're going to and from.

I have been admiring these on line for ages. In the end, I bought two other pairs of shoes for different functions so had to make do with beautiful but not too comfy some days and comfy but not beautiful other days!!

SnoopyLovesYou Fri 19-Jul-13 22:29:00

Of course she has to look pretty in the walk. This is the style section.

Havaiana flash sandals

I had some lovely shoes from Matalan a couple of years ago which were brilliant and I could walk for miles. Unfortunately they are now too big for me, I have lost weight and my feet have shrunk, and they soles have lost their padding. I don't think I could justify spending almost £70 on sandals I would hardly get the chance to wear

I find Hush Puppies sandals amazing for walking, they aren't the prettiest but better than most other comfy options imo. And I NEED comfy feet when it's hot

tethersend Fri 19-Jul-13 23:24:49

I just bought these Esska sandals and they are unbelievably comfortable with a decent, thick moulded sole.

CeeceeBloomingdale Sat 20-Jul-13 06:15:33

I'm currently wearing these

I walk a lot but have back problems so need sensible shoes. Not the most stylish choice ever but not so bad for those in the sensible category and very comfortable.

seriously ladies, these:[471267|471112]&bi=1&ps=40

I walked 7 hours around Liverpool city center last week to test them. I am amazed. Usually a sadistic shoe person myself, always cut and damaged by them no matter what style I choose, but these are utterly flawless!

Super comfy, great height and tend to go with everything i own.

People must have sussed this too cos they are almost gone online - but check your local store!

Trust me.
